Philly Guitar Show...11/22 & 23. Who will be there?
I'll be walking the show with the lovely Dawn from Naked Body Guitars on Saturday 11/22
Look for a normal looking guy with a beautiful long-haired Woman. We'll be arguing about Fender finishes. ;-) www.Bee3Vintage.com

This is a weird coincidence. I'm going to be in Philly this weekend. Can anyone tell me more about the show? The website doesn't give me any idea whether or not it would be worth dragging the wife to it.

i might be there... it's being held at the valley forge convention center (valley forge exit off the pa turnpike and "surekill" expressway, and rt 202... they all kinda converge there). if i can go, i'll wear my "twang" t-shirt... stop me and say hello.

jimd, if you're plan on buying anything, I'd take your wife's credit cards, drop off wife at the King of Prussia mall, then drive down the street to the guitar show.
I'll try to make it on Sun. Didn't know about the show. Thanks for the heads up. |

Hmmm....figures I just agreed to work on Saturday! Maybe I'll get up early and cruise out on Sunday.
And jimd: It's usually a pretty big show. I don't know how the economy will shrink it this year on the one hand, on the other hand, gas prices are cheap. I've seen Dave's Guitars from La Crosse, Wi. there before as well as Japanese reps from Ichibachi Music buying up all the vintage Strats, Chicago Music, Toys from The Attic, Delassandro, and hundreds more. Yeah, most women will be bored to tears but you won't! |

It sounds like fun. My wife is doing the marathon in Philly on Sunday. She takes these things seriously so we probably won't do too much on Sat. Walking a big convention center is probably out. She plays guitar too, but running comes first. I may just find a sports bar and watch Ohio State v. Michigan. Its not like I have any money to buy anything right now anyway.

Anyone else? I bought my Fender Pro Reverb at this show one year, and another year I traded an '89 Am Std Strat (which I could not warm up to) and a Fender leather jacket for a Marshall Bluesbreaker RI amp.
Just a caution if you bring a guitar to sell. The dealers are pretty unscrupulous and always try to pay way too little for what you have. If you see something they have that you want more than what you brought, you might be able to trade them even up or close to it. Depends on the price, of course. So if you bring a guitar or an amp, look for a non-vendor to sell it to. With the over- inflated pricing at the show you should be able to get what you want for what you brought. |
