Here It Is- My Hahn 228.
I've had the guitar for about a month. And of course, its a great guitar!
Specs: Basically Hahn's "standard" 228. -One piece swamp ash body. -Butterscotch Blonde. -Bakelite Pickguard. -Hahn Bridge and Hardware. -Electrosocket jack. The only thing different from the "standard" is the pickups, and the string tree placement- I had Chihoe put the string tree in the '52 spot by the G tuner, instead of by the A for slightly easier behind the nut bends. This is the absolute greatest Tele I've ever played. I have a friend with a vintage Tele collection including a '51 nocaster, a '55, and a '58, and I'm tellin' ya... I perfer the Hahn over them all for playability, and more importantly- Tone. It has the clearest tone I've ever heard. It did take me awhile to dial in the Hahn bridge- All my other tele's have the thin fender plates. I love this bridge! It has more sustain, and feels more "solid" due to the thickness. I have tried other thicker stainless steel bridges, and I didn't like them. But this bridge is different... It has all the twang of a thin bridge, but with more sustain. It also has the "notch" that I love. Perfect. Besides strings, I only changed one thing- The capacitor. It came with the .05, and I changed it to a .1. No biggy- Its just what I perfer. Here's some crappy pictures... Maybe instead of buying guitars all the time, I should buy a decent camera! ![]() ![]()

WOW, that's a beautiful Tele!
Though I am wondering, what kind of brand is that, Hahn? My last name is actually Hahn so I'm really curious about it... And happy to know someone makes beautiful guitars and then names them after me of course Website, price range, anything? Thanks a bunch! |

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
The pickups are my own blade pickups. The pictures don't really show them that well (thanks, camera), but each has a single polished blade. I'm a guitar player by night, and a pickup winder by.... Well, later that night! Thanks again everyone! |

Well, even though we didn't make it over there- Thanks for attempting to go! We were suppost to leave on a Thursday for the gig, and I found out that it was canceled on the Saturday before. It may be rescheduled, but I'm not sure.

Yes! I forgot to mention that. I went with the 6105 frets, and the compound 7.25-9.5 radius. Both are a first for me- I've only used 6230 and 6150 frets, and I've only used a straight 7.25 or a straight 9.5... They're perfect!

this may be a dumb question, what's the significance of using the specific "228" number as the model identifier? is it a mystery like the rolling rock "33"...?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. And Carl, so glad you're enjoying it! (but not glad you changed the cap ;-). Every one I build is a labor of love, and I was really proud of how that one came out... play it hard!

Basically- The bridge pickup tone is sort of a mix of a Joe Barden, and a vintage '50s. The winding pattern I use in the bridge is from an original '52 pickup. The blade bridge has the tone of that 7.2k '52 Bridge pickup I studied, mixed in with Barden-styled high fidelity and output. The neck pickup is a cross of a Tele neck pickup and a Strat- Taking the good qualities from each. When you want it to sound stratty, it'll do it, and vise versa. My goal was to make vintage sounding pickups with more "air" on the high end, without sounding ice-picky... And I love the look of a butterscotch tele with blade pickups... So I'm happy! I hope I can make it to NAMM! I loved it this year. |
