Thin but not nitro, and it comes dull finished from the factory.

Welcome to the TX Tele club...

What lacquer are the bodies if not nitro?

Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar Features:
  • Alder body (Satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish)
  • Rosewood or maple modern C-shaped neck (Satin polyurethane finish)
  • 9.5" fretboard radius
  • 22 jumbo frets
  • '70s styling
  • Greasebucket tone circuit
  • Upgraded hot alnico 3 single-coil pickups voiced for more modern distortion-friendly tones
------------

I can only speak for the 'upgrade' ones as I have a 07. I can say the poly under the satin Nitro is also thinner than the thin skins, and buffs to a decent gloss if one desires put in a little work.

On the Specs on the Fender Site, I see the Upgrade is Nitro and the Texas is Satin Acrylic lacquer. This is the current HWY1 Teles, I'd assume all the upgrades ones are Nitro.

But robt, the post mid-2006 Texas Teles, whether blonde or sunburst, side by side with the earlier ones, the finish is totally the same, down to the sheen.

Getting the hue and sheen exactly the same is too much trouble, better to stay with the existing paint formula.

the finish on the blonde one is all satin acrylic lacquer. the finish on the burst in nitrocellulose black around the edges with amber acrylic in the center . . . it's a hybrid finish. weird, huh?

Their only drawback in my opinion is the stock pickups. I've owned two....this one has a Harmonic Design Vintage + in the neck and a HD Super 90 in the bridge. Also a Callaham bridge & saddles. Sadly, I may have to let this one go soon for financial reasons :

Very sorry to hear she might have to go, O A.

The Texas Tele is 2 tone burst, the regular one is 3 tone. I hope this image shows accurately:

Mine's a blondie:

It didn't come with the blackguard, but the Fender 5 Hole bakelite/black guard fits like a dream....
