Pickguards

For my three projects - refinishing a Fender AmDeluxe Strat and two Tele Partscasters - one from Warmoth and the other from USA-CG.

Anyway, I was ready to make a consolidated purchase from MF and about to purchase all new (genuine) Fender Pearl guards (and Trem cover for the Strat) but they are quite costly.

Any one out there use Warmoth's pearl guards? How is their quality? And would you buy the pearl guards made of celluloid or plastic?

TIA

I've used Warmoth pearloid guards -- and WD pearl guards, too, BTW -- and really like them (the Warmoths).

The Warmoth pearloid, as you mention, are made of celluloid, so the appearance is a bit more yellowed than white.

Quality is top notch and I've never gotten one cut incorrectly, although a few guys have. OTOH, the WD pearl guards are vinyl, and I've recently had a spate of luck wherein about 50% of the guards I order from them are incorrect -- and I've been ordering quite a few lately.

I think that you can't go wrong with the Warmoth guards.

I got two guards from Warmoth. One, single layer matte finish black for my Tele with a Strat neck pickup cutout. That was PERFECT. The other, a left handed Jazz Bass guard in Silver Pearl. The ONLY sniggle was I had to sand down the part where it mates with the control plate. I could see a line in the plastic covering they put on it where it was supposed to be cut, but they didn't cut in far enough. [shrug] Weird. It is however a beautiful guard.

Warmoth P/G's

I love the hue of the Warmoths celluloid vintage pearl p/g's. I've never had a problem with fit or quality with the dozen or so p/g's I've ordered from them.

Stability of Celluloid??

How durable is this stuff? Everything I read says will start decaying over time? Something to worry about or not?

TIA

Wait about 20-30 years. By that time you'll be like "I've gotta order a new guard... My tastes have changed." LOL
