Yup...I think you could say it turned out pretty good.

No snow yet?

What town are you near? I'm curious about your latitude.

Nice. Do you have to do that 3-ply binding in three steps, or does it just come like that?

Is that a one-piece top?

Don't know how Marty does it, but multi-ply binding like that is typically done all at once.

Check out this Stew-Mac guide to binding.

Nope,it is a bookmatched top
As for the binding,I do it at once, but seperate,if you know what I mean.I glue them down together as I go

I tried gluing them together first but it makes the corners really tough
When you keep them separate until you glue them, you can bend each one individual.
Here is another one I am working on

This one has thicker binding

Wow!!! That Spalted Maple/Mahogany body is ... superlatives fail me! To say that it "turned out pretty good" is one of the greatest understatements I"ve heard in quite a while.

Beautiful work there martyb. The bindings are sharp.

Are you using CA glues for this instead of the Weld On glue?

I kinda use a combination. The weld on for the binding going on the wood and then thin CA for the other. It just seems to wick in better.
Here is kinda the layout, other than the neck.I do believe there is a birdseye neck slated for this one

Weird, the hardware almost looks gold in the pics

Cool.

I forget to ask - do you spray any sealer on the wood before you do the bindings?

I've been thinking about spraying some sanding sealer and then routing the channels and installing the binding. I thought it might help with wood tearing out from the binding tape.

The guitar looks great! With a top that beautiful I might have to use chrome pickup ring on the neck and lose the pickguard.

Ya actually I am pretty close.Drumheller is about 65 miles away
We have our own little badlands just east of my farm on the lakeshore. We actually found what we thought was a dinosaur bone one time.It was a huge mother, but when we went back to take pics of it we could not find it.
Hmmm, maybe it would be big enough for a guitar body

Ya I do.I find it does help with tearout and also helps stop the glues from soaking into the wood.I still don't know how guys like Ron do binding after the finish. It would be just a total mess if I tried that

Those Canadia gooses are overrunning your country! You've gotta wade through them to get out the door in Ontario...

Canadians should be eating goose for thanksgiving.

...and that 'hog's purdy, Marty.
