I hope not! That would mean Ed's no longer with us.
There was a rumor a few months ago he had passed on, after some idiot "updated" his wikipedia entry. As far as I know, Ed's still aive and well, but pretty much retired. What a player. My favorite tele man.

wow, I remember an interview with Adrian Legg where he mentioned
once playing somebody's "highly unsanitary Tele" - now I understand what he meant! finish kinda looks like a petri dish with somebody's science project in it. (begin Professor John Frink voice) "ah, yes, for my science project I'm cloning (ahem!) mustard gas!"

I ment can you buy it as in... is it like a tribute tele or something
I remember all those rumours about him a few months ago on the internet... just when I first started getting into him at the beginning of the summer. Glad, he's still with us - one of my favorite Jazz guitarists. |

I don't think that is Ed's Tele. I saw another better pic and his is a lighter colour, not butterscotch. The pickup is a Gibson according to the tech at The Twelfth Fret, in Toronto, who installed it. He couldn't remember which model of Gibson.

That is for sure Ed Bickert's Telecaster.
You can tell because it has an Allen Key taped to the body. Apparently this was done by the guys at the twelfth fret guitar shop in Toronto, so that he could make some kind of adjustment if he needed too. Bickert apparently left the Allen key taped on because he thought it was a part of the work they had done and didn't understand that it could be taken off (true story). |
