I got no video clips ... but here's the dilly on that Johnny Depp pic. He was down here [in SoFla] for a couple nights playing w/ his band from when he was in HS, The Kids. Here's the background info, for those interested:
"About Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert:

"In the late seventies and early eighties, South Florida boasted one of the most explosive original rock scenes in the country. It was a time when Rock music was reinventing itself to appeal to a younger, more discriminating audience. New Wave, Punk and other experimental genres were finding a ready audience, and were changing the shape of Rock music forever. And yet, South Florida's prominence in the underground scene remains one of the area's best kept secrets. Bands that included Z-Cars, The Kids, Critical Mass, Charley Pickett, The Cichlids, Slyder, Tight Squeeze and others filled up dozens of local rock venues to the delight of fans. It was an incubator from which some of the biggest names in music and entertainment emerged. For the second annual Sheila Witkin Memorial Concert, these spectacular bands will reunite in honor of Sheila Witkin, a major figure in the evolution and success of South Florida's music scene. "
Sheila evidently was a band manager and promoter, and her son was in The Kids with teenage Johnny Depp. Seems she was 'band mom' of the scene at the time. Someone just did a documentary of the scene, which was shown at the Palm Beach International Film Festival [FWIW]. So, they put on two nights of reunion shows this past weekend, with proceeds to benefit some child charities that Sheila supported.

I almost went to the show on Fri, but fell asleep on the couch about 9pm [DOH!]... actually I was more interested in seeing a couple other bands, not so much JDepp... the groups mentioned pre-date my move to FL, so it would have been interesting. But, c'est la vie ...

Re; Depp's musical involvement, as I recall, Depp moved to LA to further his aspirations in the music biz, but acting took over. I've heard he's got some nice teles... I seem to recall seeing a pic or two in the past w/ him and a tele.

That's all I got

Johnny and his band opened for Iggy and the Stooges back before he became an actor. One of my favorite movie scenes is in "Dead Man". It has Johnny, Billy Bob Thorton, and Iggy together, along with Jared Harris ("Two of Us" playing John Lennon). If you've seen it, you'll know what makes it great. If not, get the movie and find out. A superb film by Jim Jarmusch.

My favorite movie band is Dwight Yoakam and the boys in Sling-blade.

Now there was some real musicianship and songwriting ability. LOL

Then there was the [profanity laden] band meeting where they discuss management.

Priceless.

Unfortunately, in "Dead Men" Johnny, Iggy, and Billy don't play. Neil Young does provide the soundtrack, however, just him, his guitar, and an amp.
