They're the coolest looking, but functionally they're probably about the worst. I have an old one from the 50's and the latches go, the covering pulls off, etc.
So it depends on what you want it for. I love padded gigbags because my guitars are just for around the house. Other folks want those metal flight cases because they're flying everywhere. |

I alternate between a square Roadrunner Hardshell (busy gigs, dragging around NYC, lousy weather}, and a G&G Fender Brown Tooled Vinyl with Gold Hardware (looks like a million bucks).

I'm searching for cases too at the moment...
I like retro also, like the pic you post but to buy one I'd preffer a real one and that has to be find "casually", you'll get a nicer one imho... then one may change the interior with new material in a retro colour or even leopard fur :p Among what I've reviewed, I like the SKBs very much. There's one that looks sort-of-retro with it's round edges that I might buy, the "Electric Guitar Economy Rectangular Case - 1SKB-6" (1st pic) ( and a padded one, perfect too if you look for soft cases. It can be used in backpack way too, and skb is trusty/rugged for that use, it is the "Rectangular Electric Guitar Soft Case - 1SKB-SC66" (2nd pic) ) Last edited by fernando; August 30th, 2008 at 04:46 PM. |

I've been looking for a gig-bag or something similar myself.
http://monocase.com Look very cool, and high quality, but are a bit more $$$ then I'm willing to spend. Probably go with the Fender tweed (like) deluxe gig-bag. Although, the cases Nash provides with their guitars look rather impressive; anyone know what those are/who makes them? ~Randy |

I wonder if the dry-box guys who make waterproof camera boxes and storage boxes for grand canyon river trips could make a waterproof box for a guitar?
I might be needing a few in another day or so. http://www.all-pelican-cases-4-less....can_1750p.html

hey the MONO are really cool, the straps also. But it is more of a 2001 space adissey look (wich I also like)
Anyway, the MONO soft/padded case looks like the best backpack case I've ever seen! In case it really grip the guitar inside... now that I look at the pictures closer the guitar looks loose... how do they work? the cow skin soft case is great also, where? The SKB "1SKB-66" should be splash proof as well as the one SKB makes for Fender (American Standard new case, etc) SKB makes mil spec cases too, one may fit... |

Here's a second to the point that the Thermometer case supplied with the Nocasters provide little protection.
The best cases for Telecaster, Stratocasters and Les Pauls are the StudioLogic SL-10 and SL-12. Problem is they may no longer be available. They're made in Italy and were once imported by the Jay Turser distributor. ...... ![]() ......

MONO cases
[quote=Guinness;1402891]I've been looking for a gig-bag or something similar myself.
http://monocase.com Look very cool, and high quality, but are a bit more $$$ then I'm willing to spend. I have a MONO case/bag and it is head and shoulders more functional than any case or bag I have ever had before. They are waterproof, light, comfortable to carry and very protective for a bag. Plus they have tons of pockets (one the size of a set of strings, another by the headstock for pens, cel etc.) There's a little velcro strap in the main compartment for your coiled up cords--which keeps them from becoming spaghetti. If you are looking for the best way to get your axe to the gig. MONO is it. Thermometer cases and the tweed/orange boxes sure are cool though. |

I have two cases that rise up to the top:
1) My favorite most use case would be the Fender Incase Slim bag (they came with the John Mayer Strat). I bought mine off ebay and use it all the time. It has tons of storage, shoulder strap, and it is easy to move around. http://www.goincase.com/products/det...m-bag-cl56063/ 2) My favorite cool case is my G&G Fender Olive Tweed case. This is the coolest tweed case I've seen. I've only seen it sold through MF and GC. It's unique, and I haven't seen another person running around with one. I recently got one of the new Fender-branded SKB cases. I LOVE SKB cases. Very light, but great protection. I have this one, and then my Martin HD-28 came in a Martin-branded SKB case, and then I have a RoadRunner case (again....made by SKB) that's exactly like the Martin one except for the branding.
These are very, very nice. No, not retro/traditional looking, but a really nice snug fit, great protection, and the best latches ever put on to a daggone case. I'm pleased. Got mine from Zounds (I have NO connection to them at all). Fair price. ![]() Ahhhh, a '72 Tele Custom inside!! ![]() Or maybe a '62 MIJ (1985) Custom Tele?! ![]() Very robust, very comfortable rubberized handle. Quite nice.

Hey Tuxedo,
Where in Texas are you located. I have one of the Tweed cases and I lacquered it, like the one above. I might sell it to ya if your within driving distance of me.
