My tweed thermometer case has a different liner. Not much protection with these cases.

The thermometer case is great for storing your guitar around the house. I guess that's why the NoCaster comes with two cases. Once for home use and one for actual travel.

What's your favorite case?

Since my Nashville Tele came off E-Bay in a Musicians Friend Gig Bag. I studied the various cases on Fenders website & I have fell in love with & ordered the Brown Tooled Leather one by Fender from my local dealer. I wanted to protect my new Marty Stuart Autograph better.

telefunk ............... what kind of case is that. It's got a different handle, different liner and doesn't have the locking latch found on the Fender thermometer case.

The brand on it is "Backbeat". Sorry don't know who makes it. Got it from Pete's Musician Mart in Sydney. I'll try and get some more info for you from him.

Someone on eBay sells them. Usually puts one up once a week or so.

Anyone have one of these? Are they better than the Fender versions? Fender doesn't have leather end caps or cream tolex.

If I can get myself to stop buying other things, I will place a mass order to G + G right there smack in the middle of Los Angeles and I guess get some help moving them someplace safe; bring back a few to N.O. every time I visit the family in SoCal.

I find this one has a good size/look/price ratio.
It's a Rockcase 10603, any experience with it?
I'd like to lacquer the tweed and relic it a bit.

I also like the Fender black tweed cases but here are too expensive. Maybe some day. Same for the thermometer cases.

And I like cases look old so I preffer to start with an old case or a cheap but rugged one that I can relic.

I use these, too. My most expensive guitar was $500, so a $140 case, nice as it is, looks like overkill. These will be fine as long as I'm not throwing my guitar down any stairs.

I looked for those SL-10 / SL-12 cases Jack likes. I looked for two years, then I gave up. Looked under multiple distributor name, band names, and came up empty. They are nice enough and hard enough to find that I'd grab one even if I had no guitar to put in it.

I like how this cases look, both in tweed and in black, but I read somewhere they fall apart quite easy. True? (I want it for home and light duty only)

These are very, very nice. No, not retro/traditional looking, but a really nice snug fit, great protection, and the best latches ever put on to a daggone case.

I'm pleased. Got mine from Zounds (I have NO connection to them at all). Fair price.

Ahhhh, a '72 Tele Custom inside!!

Or maybe a '62 MIJ (1985) Custom Tele?!

Very robust, very comfortable rubberized handle. Quite nice.

+1 Got one for my Esquire, great lightweight case but rugged too, I like the latches on it

Buddy,

I love the black tweed as well. In fact, I'll go so far as to say I have a tweed fetish.

My concern is Fender's quality control with their cases.

With my endless hours of using the search function, I have read horror stories of Fender cases (even the G & G ones) with latches that don't line up properly, cases that don't even close right, handles that don't make it through a year of use, and the cheap fake leather (vinyl) endcaps ripping way too easily.

I think there is a real market demand for tweed cases (all colors of the rainbow) that are built with quality control.

I could handle the modern crappy imitation leather and all that, but the suitcase latches are the worst. I want the old school trunk clasps. I carry my '52 Hot Rod with my index finger down the side of the case, just in case a latch pops open. I am probably just paranoid but I can see my guitar falling out.

The fit on mine is good, but it is the one that came with the guitar so I doubt a competent Fender employee would put a guitar into a wonky case and send it off to a dealer.

I suspect a true high quality hand made case would cost as much as a nice guitar.

I do not like the molded cases either, aluminum rim around them is a total bummer.

What about Velvet Elvis Cases?

I keep following these case threads, because the three G&G cases I have are fitted for a Strat and the Tele doesn't fit all that well. Still, no one seems to have nailed the question of which case fits a tele dead on, and which will handle the abuse of travel.... Is it my imagination, or do the square cases work better for Strats than Teles???

Apart from the older, Fender violin-style cases and newer rectangular cases, I like the Gator Deluxe ABS cases:
