Steel saddle on low strings?
I'm thinking about doing this mod and am looking to hear about the pros and cons. I know this topic has to have been discussed ad nauseum. Can someone post a link to the best thread in regards to it?

I can't add too much other than the fact that I've used the Glendale "Redd Volkaert" saddles on several builds. The lowest saddle is steel - and if its good enough for Redd...

I have a Glendale outlaw set, steel e/a, brass for the others. Bought 'em used from Oakland A's here at TDPRI (fast clean deal BTW). It works real nice, string balance is fine. I don't think anybody could tell from the sound alone that the low pair was sitting on steel vs. brass, but the brass definitely tames the top four a bit.

I just finished this relic Pinecaster last week and put steel saddles on the EAD&G strings - this thing rocks with a set of Don Mare Super Sport T's and a nice fat V maple neck. I'll take better pics this weekend - my camera was dead and a friend shot this with his phone - I'm impressed.
