Help need Twang
Here Is my Question ? Since there are so many different models and various sounds ....What 2008 Tele will give me twang ??????ou Yes I need to play and decide but i feel with so many choices of teles and also my playing, which i think plays a major roll in sounds (not a professional picker by no means just a rookie , more just a hobby) ....That being said for the twang whats a great model out of the 2008s ........also thought mabe the reissues dont care if i spend $600-$1400(American Made or MIM) just rather get something that will twang and possibly be a guitar that i can hand down to my son one day or and maybe increase in value ........But main concern is twang as of now...so confused between models ........Joe

For me, the "60's" models twang the most. On the inexpensive side you have the Classic 60's model and on the upscale side you have the AV62. Both are GREAT guitars.
Hey - I just became a Friend of Leo's!!! I think I'll buy a new Tele to celebrate.... actually, I just did. But this is a great reason to blame it on.

Both good choices however any guitar can twang the player makes the twangy sounds not the guitar itself.
Duane Eddy got some real twangy sounds out of his big hollowbody. So my answer is any Tele can twang if you know how to make the twangy sounds the guitar can do it too.

Start with all 2008 Telecasters,
remove the "twangless" ones: Jim Root tele John 5 tele 72 Deluxe RI tele Spalted Maple tele pretty much the rest = "twang" (with the classic 50s and the 52RI riding high on twangitude)

I don't mean to over-simplify this--and I certainly don't intend to sound insulting--but experiment with your picking attack in order to maximize the twang potential. For example, try picking close to the bridge and popping your strings.
That said, you might have to experiment to find the combination that suits you best. Personally, I prefer the three-saddle bridges, either the brass barrels or the threaded steel ones. They're all good! Good luck, and I hope you have lots of fun on your twang quest! |

When I moved from rock to country I changed from a super heavy (3mm) pick to a much lighter Dunlop Jazz III red. That really helped bring the twang out. Having said that, there definitely are Tele models that twang more or less than others.
Most of the "modern" designs don't have quite as much. The exception is the new American Standard. I find that it can twang with the best of them and is just an all-around awesome guitar.

Any guitar will twang if you pick just in front of the saddles - a tele with a single coil connected to a metal bridge that also has large mass saddles does it best.
I wonder if it's possible to emulate twang with a pedal?

I would like to know what you are playing through? What are your settings on the amp? What kind of music are you playing? Are you playing in a band or are you playing mostly for recording and at home?
How long have you been playing? Welcome to the forum. If you can't find an answer here it don't exist.
