My CIJ Blue Flower Esquire is finished!!!
The custom pickguard came today, so i sanded down the neck for it to fit and drilled the screw holes.
Added since the last post are the callaham saddles, full wiring (cocked wah), control plate and callaham knobs (absolutely love the callaham stuff btw!!) went for a voodoo broadcaster for that good bit of bite, and ernie 10's to finish it off. Very pleased with how it turns out. the small photogrophaic paper hiding the pickup route is as good as i could ever have hoped for. not perfect, much to do with the metallic finish so the colours change somewhat, but at the right angles its spot on!! cant put it down....its even better playing than the 62 custom partcaster i put together....and i thought that was amazing. would love to known what you guys think! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Excellent! Try as I might, I can't see the paper covering the neck route. How'd you do that, anyway?

So are you saying you sanded down the NECK so that the PICKGUARD would fit? Just curious. It does look mighty fine indeed, I'd say you are the only person who owns one of those. Who did the pickguard?

yeah i am fairly pleased. the photos dont pick it up at all....although only theres a few angles whilst looking at the guitar you see it....but not enough to get me down, as no one wil be close enough to it.
no i didnt sand the neck, i sanded the pickguard. the pickguard was custom made without screw holes by terrapins own template....so i marked out the screw holes, and had to sand the pickguard a tad to fit the neck. im guessing the template was a USA tele pickguard, and there might be a difference with this CIJ neck. i have to say, its been fairly cheap to make. i got the body and neck off the stratosphere for farily good prices, i had the control plate and the pots, and most of the wirings. then i had to buy the gotoh tuners and the pickup. all in all im thinking about £350? about $720. considering everything is brand new, and the new ones go for $1000, plus mine is uprated, minus one pickup. all in all, best project so far!! thanks for the comments guys! makes me chuffed :D |

Very, very nice! I have a soft spot for the flower Teles and Esquires both. This looks fantastic. I feel... GAS-y.
