No serial numbers. My tweed case from my '81/early 82 (had 81 pots, no neck date, obviously, and a very low bridge plate serial #) had more of a "greyish" look to the tweed. The two '83 '57 RIs I had also had this same colored tweed, which was less brown and yellow than the newer ones. The lining seemed different to me as well, but I can't recall comparing them back to back when I had them.

Thanks serialsteve for your fast reply!!! I'll remember waht you said me about greyish. Well my Fullerton is an early 81/82 too. Mine got 81 pots, neck date '81, "vinatge" stamp body. She's got 1MEG pot volume and a bridge plate with a serial number with five numbers too. Do you think these last ones are original?

Thanks a lot

I'm not sure about a 1981 neck date-I'm not aware of neck dates on the first batch-mine had a "VINTAGE" stamp on the neck and the body. There was a small run of the Vintage Telecaster done following one of the NAMM shows in 81, but the body wasn't totally correct as I recall-the "corrected" ones came out in early 82, and probably had 81 pots. The bridge plate shouldn't have a five digit serial number either that early. Do you have pics of the guitar? The serial number on mine was four digits (065*). The 1MEG pot was part of the update kit.
