Got my Tele back from Lollar...
I know you all know how this goes....I said I was done with my Tele mods, and then here I go and get another mod....anyhow, This is the last one I tell ya'!!!
I had Jason do the Charlie Christian Tele Neck pickup deal to my 55' copy, and it is awsome. Tone, workman-ship, all in all no issues; yet my Antiquity bridge just could not keep up. It would work ok, and I got by with it, but I was not at 100%. So, It was time to get Jason to hook me with a matched bridge pickup. I told him my issue, and Jason got back to me with the following scoop: Alnico 5 with 11,000 turns. Now that is the science to it, all I know is that it ROCKS!! The bridge is well balanced, got bite, got tone, and it matches up with my CC/neck perfectly. It is great. So here is the wrap up, for all you CC/Tele players with the type of problem I had, Go and get the package deal. This Telecaster of mine is on the mark for many types of styles now, and after four years of mods and jams and research I am very satisfied with her. Lollor pickups rule, and his customer service with me was great. His pickups have made the tones in my head and hands come thru...very cool to be inspired by the fun of playing great gear. A 55' Copy, Lollar Charlie Christian Tele Neck, Alnico 5 w/11,000 bridge, two Pro Juniors, and a Nashville 112 Peavey, priceless....later on, I'll keep you posted............dy. |

I just saw a guitar on another forum that has Lollar pickups in it.
It has a CC in the neck and a Lollar/Aiello Horseshoe pickup(like on the '30s Rickenbacher guitars) and it has a Hipshot 'Trillogy'multi-tuning bridge(3 possible tunings for each string). I think this guitar would be the ultimate slide tele, with those pickups and a bridge that will give you multiple tunings with a flick of a switch. The guitar will be at the Hipshot booth during the upcoming NAMM show.

I don't know all the details on it, but I think hipshot is kind of testing the water to see what kind of reaction it will get at NAMM this month. I think they should just go ahead and start production, I would buy one. |

The Trilogy bridge has been a regular production item for quite a few years now- it's nothing new.
They're easily available, for Teles, Strats, and other apps... Hipshot ![]() -Michael Charter Member S. Texas He-Man Emoticon Haters Local #316

I would be suprised if you could really tune quickly and easily with one of those things. When you change one string you usually have to adjust them all slightly to compensate for the change in neck tension. I would like to find out I was wrong tho. I'd get one. Those pick ups look real cool too.

but playing slide, you know . . .
you have to have a kind of tolerant attitude when it comes to pitch. even some of the greats -- I'm thinking of Duane Allman specifically -- sound like saturday night at the dog pound if you listen for pitch. thank God for vibrato.
but that guitar does look k-e-w-l -- I'd like to try one out. |
