Hello and

Hello to all. I am a new Telecaster owner, having been gifted one for Father's day by my guys(kids,g'kids).I am the proud owner of a spalted maple SE.I am getting used to the narrower fretboard and jumbo frets, causing me to clean up my technique a smidge. How much fun is this....explain the pups as pertains to the tone knob that lifts up....what exactly is going on? Oh yeah my first electric, martinguy up to now.Maybe not much longer.Dark LP sounding and then "makes my girl hot, jazzy sounds" too cool. Looking forward to learning about this puppy and playing it as well as it deserves. Thanks beforehand for your time and responses....

Welcome! Be warned, pics of new guitars are required or you get hit with the banstick! Not really.

If your guitar has humbuckers, I'd guess lifting the pot splits the pickups so you get a single coil tone.

It's a coil tap, for cutting down the dual-coil humbuckers into single coils. It gives a greater variety of sounds.

Pot is short for potentiometer... the technical name for a knob.

I'm gonna assume HH means it has two humbuckers (type of pickup). You'll learn the vocabulary soon enough. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome!

The D28 is a fantastic guitar. I have a late 70s Alvarez D28 copy that I've played just about every type of music on. I someday hope to get an actual D28.

Yeah, HH means two Humbuckers, an HSS like my '85 Telecaster means (from the bridge to the neck) Humbucker and two single coil pickups. I guarantee you'll get a great amount of useful info from the posters in this forum. they're all good people!

Again, welcome!

Welcome MartinGuy! Be forewarned, though: you'll spend half your time with that beauty and the other half talking about it on here!

I'm a Martin guy, too: D-35. They're magical, just like Teles! Along with my Thinline '69 RI, my Martin completes the dream team...until such a time as new GAS hits.
