Is this Tele Materiel or not

It's a hunk of ash that's been sitting in the backyard for about a year after the tree was cut down (If I'd been into building when it was cut down then I would have made shure I would have gotten a better piece) I know it's big enough for a body if I would do a two piece bookmatch. What do you think? Would it work? I've never built a guitar from scratch before.

There is probably more than enough usable wood in that stump,but....
I see there are still green shoots coming off it.I would think that would mean it is not dead yet, which means there will be lots of moisture in it.It would probably take a couple years to dry.I may be wrong, but .....

I have a sneaky feeling Marty is right .

Ever thought about adding a round table top to it and parking the chairs ?

At $70 for a nice piece of selected ash, dried, planed and ready for the bandsaw, I wouldn't bother ... unless the tree has sentimental value, then I'd say go for it (I'm thinking that your photo is of the tree stump, but you kept the rest in the shed? And it's nice and dry because it was cut green and sticker-stacked?). Otherwise I agree this the previous posters - that tree ain't dead!

I'm assuming since you are located in Canada that this is Northern Ash, as opposed to Southern (swamp) Ash.

I built a Strat out of this once, and although it looked just like swamp it weighed a ton.

Just a thought

Yeah your probably right it is just the stump and it is green. So I would probably better off just buying a dried piece of swamp ash.
