Contact your local TDPRI member.

I received a PM from a member just 40 miles away saying "Hi, and I think we have something in common". After a few exchanged emails we finally spoke on the phone.
A 30min conversation later, it turned out we have very similar tastes in music and favourite guitar players, and a distinct interest in each others guitars.

So in the near future we will meet up to feed our addiction to things Telecaster, and associated music through the ages (neither of us are chickens!).

An eagerly anticipated event.

Why not a "hello" to your closest TDPRI member, maybe too far away to meet up, but just to say " I'm your nearest TDPRI 'er and am interested in what you are currently doing guitarwise?".

Forums (this one especially) are great, but some are shy of posting, and just maybe your TDPRI neighbour is need of some help / advice / encouragement, or is a hidden source of knowledge / experience.

Did it. Made a new friend. Got invited to join a band.

Good advice. I've met a handful of members, and worked in a professional capacity with many more.
Only one that didn't jive well, the rest have all been great.

Almost hooked up w/ Arlo, even though a very long range neighbor. ;)

Cane is 45 miles from me I think. Missed an invitation to a biker bar he was playing at... I pictured the slide guy in Roadhouse behind the chicken wire...

I think martyb1 and I live about 3 hours drive apart, but we may be meeting this weekend. I am quite excited about meeting him live and in person!

I'm pleased to say I've met up w/ 10 or 12 members here, that have turned into Great Customers also...some from 50 or 75 miles away...Sorry to say the Gas prices have slowed down the visits some, but I sure can't blame em for that !.....

well about 15 of us neighbors are getting together next weekend for a BBQ and Tele Jam - we're a pretty friendly bunch here in Holland. Why don't y'all stop by?

I could visit Octatonic, but I'm sure he would be concerned about my grubby paws near his nice studio gear

If I received an email from a young feller saying "Hi - I think we have something in common", I'd probably sh*t myself, thinking "Oh Jeez - wonder who his mother is - was I really drunk at the time or was it just a knee-trembler?"......

Come on, guys - be fair! Nearest TDPRIer to me? Gotta be none other than Big John! I love him to death, he's got more guitar playing ability in his weiner than I'll EVER have, but meeting up with him and feeding him and buying him beers?...

I'd have to pawn my entire guitar collection.....

Hi Fatman,

I think I am closer to you than Big John. You are near St. Neots I believe? I am in Ely. There is also MidLifeCrisis in Cambridge.

But I know that I don't come close to Big John in terms of playing ability - I'm miles away!

Hmmmmmmmmmm, i often think about this one, the handy thing is ..... i live next door to this ...........

The little view of a gable end and the third pair of chimneys just at the left of that ancient holly tree is MY house so if you ever want to get together for a little light, libation i know the place, perhaps we could arrange a sunny Sunday afternoon or something ?

I have guitars and amps at the house but a 'shoot out' is way down the list, i was lucky enough to meet Scotland at a gig and we had more fun just having a chat and a drink than ****ing about with guitars !

PM me anyone ?

TDPRI convention

Drinking with TDPRI mates? Never done it before.

Just ask Arte, Mojo, Lobstah, Joel, Jimmy, Ron, Bill, Becky, Stephen, Ron J, Ron K [almost] Bob and the other 20 or so I can't think of at the moment.

It is ALWAYS A GOOD TIME to meet y'all and I couldn't think of a friendlier and nicer bunch.

I still would like to see a TDPRI convention somewhere like the Sweden, USA or UK?

Arlo, if we arrange something between those of us who live close together you are more than welcome to come over and buy us some beer !!
Tell you what, i'll drive you out to the Kings Forest where i lived as a little kid when my Dad came out of the Navy and show you what a PROPER pine looks like !!.
I've got a house with a 600 year old oak frame too, i'd gladly let you have enough to make a Tele but nothing short of an 'A' bomb is gonna split that stuff.

I live 3 blocks from guitardedzen's dad and we got together in December. He moved up north and has some big (and exciting) changes in his life now, so he hasn't been active here for a while. However, I knew him before I knew TDPRI so that probably doesn't count.

I did do the electronic acquaintance thing on another forum, ax84.com (amp building). I realized that another member who was posting regularly had a band in McPherson, KS. He's over 4 hours away - but just 8 blocks away from my in-laws! It was great meeting someone with similar interests that you never would have met otherwise. So, the last few times I'm very excited to go visit family and I'm lugging gear in the trunk.

It sure is one way to make the net-world a little more real and the real-world a little smaller. (So, anyone else live in McPherson? ...'cause I want more contacts while visiting family!)

Keep him away from people who play with their teeth, that's a bad combo.
