Ive played one a couple of times for about an hour each time. My impressions were that it doesn't quite have the bottom end of a regualr humbucker but it is a bit brighter. If you do a search for the vintage mini humbucker I think Seymour Duncan actually describes it as a cross between a single coil and a regular humbucker. I guess that's sort of accurate from what I experienced. I might describe it as a cleaner, thicker and quieter P90 maybe. Anyway, I'm not a big fan of humbuckers but to me this one was absolutely perfect. I loved it. I'm REALLY close to actually taking the plunge on the Hot Rod by the way so I'll post when I get it.

I have one and love the Mini! For 35 years I have played guitars with single coil pick ups but when I plugged this thing in it was like magic. I am a blues guitarist and this tone fits in with my style.

High..I saw one at my local music store tried it and really liked it..Then I justified buying it...Now I have to sell my Baja...That was part of the justification...

I simply don't have the scratch to pull one of those for a present, but it's definitely one for the future. Played one today at GC and loved the tone. The neck seemed a little funky, though. . . felt finished near the body and got a little rough to the touch working your way towards the headstock. I like it, since I like the feel of unfinished wood, but that doesn't seem to be what was intended.

I've owned two of them and couldn't get right with either one. Not that they sounded bad--they were OK, although I think the neck HB sounds thick and lifeless. I'm also just about decided that the flat board and big frets kill the chime and sparkle. There are some here who really like the Hot Rod, so obviously, it's subjective.
