New Guy With HWY 1 Questions
Howdy y'all. I 'm just another FNG with some tele questions. Now, I'm a strat guy and entered the tele world at the low end. Had to see what all the fuss was about. Crap, these things rock!! I shoulda done this years ago! So please bear with me.
I'm ready to move up from my squire affinity BSB tele. I'm hooked and ready to upgrade (I'm hooked, not converted). I test drove a '52 reissue, wow real nice but the 7.25 fretboard radius don't do it for me, not even on my strats. So I started lookin at all the different telecasters. I'm not a purist and really don't have an "ear " for a telecaster ...yet . The texas HW1 caught my attention. I have a hot rod american series texas strat and like those hot texas pups. To me the pro's are: hot pups, 12" fretboard radius, rolled edges, brass saddles and maple fretboard. I just haven't been able to find one to test drive. The cons: don't care much for the trussrod adjust in the heel. I'm on a tele quest (GAS!) and have some questions Do all HW1's have rolled fretboard edges? Are they all made in USA? I was reading some on-line reviews and some folks stated they were MIM. Are the '52 reissues overrated? Are those '52RI thin skin nitro w/9.5 radius from wildwood FSRs? I didn't see them on Fenders site. That GES signature model looks interesting too. Any info would be greatly appreciated.........................markerdown:coo l: |

Hey welcome to the TDPRI, It rocks! Ignore the MIM comments you may have seen, if it says made in the USA, it is made in the USA. What you describe that you're looking for is pretty much the texas highway one. The frets are rolled, and wont be as chunky as that 52 as they have a modern C shape neck. I onced owned the highway one upgrade but didnt like it, but the other guitarist in my band has the texas tele you describe, and boy its fab, i would be envious if i hadnt bought the baja
Made in U.S.A. Ash body One-piece '52 maple neck Hot vintage pickups Jumbo frets U.S. vintage hardware Vintage string-through-body 3-saddle bridge with brass barrels - Perfect i'd say. Go for it!
