Got them both back from the shop today. Mine was there for 28 days, Maddy's for 5. Saturday I inquired as to why mine was taking so much longer than normal, and suddenly, everything was rush rush. I didn't intend to raise a stink, but that seems to have been the effect. Here are a couple of pictures of the finished products, warts and all.

Unfortunately these aren't the best pictures, but it's dark and raining outside. If we get sun this weekend, I'll try to get some outdoor shots.

The weight of the green one is 7.76 lbs.; the pink is 7.48.

They both sound awesome through my V33 amp. The green one is almost bell like, and the L'il Punchers in the pink one have a gritty, not quite humbucker growl, that cleans up nicely (though the volume drops) when they are tapped. Great pups. Recommended.

Do you think we could get adoption papers through and a guitar made for me by Christmas?
Those are awesome guitars and an even awesomer (yeah, awesomer) Christmas gift.

Grabbed a couple of shots in the sunlight. Too bright. Try again later.

They both look really great. You've done an excellent job on them both. I think you've chosen the perfect pickguard combinations for both teles, the F holes look great. They're both seriously good guitars. I'm impressed! Congratulations!

Really great stuff, Ironwolf! The green stain/white binding/bound F-hole combo is very, very nice! You're going have trouble sleeping Christmas Eve, I think, waiting to give the pink one to your niece!

Very nice! I've been thinking of a set of those "Lil Punchers" as well.

One final picture (until I give Maddy her's on Christmas). These are all four of this years builds. I don't think I'll be quite so ambitious next year.

I finished tweaking the setup on the green guitar and took it down to the local GC to show it off. I had it set where I thought it sounded pretty good with my talentless playing, but when a couple of the youngsters at the store tried it out, holy moley!, it sounded Awesome! Everyone wanted to try it themselves. A lot of very favorable comments were directed at the pickups. These things turned out way better than I had hoped.

I guess the main lesson is don't be afraid to experiment with construction methods.

Funny! The green one has almost every design feature and combination thereof I dislike (on the paper at least) AND YET I find it beautiful... that really says a lot I think. Well done!

Christmas Day

Miss Madeline got her new gear today. She seems to be really tickled. In addition to the guitar I gave her a guitar stand, some music books and a Line 6 Micro Spider amp.

After everything settled down and all the gifts were opened, we played a little together. We worked through 'Stand By Me', 'Crossroads', 'I Want to Hold Your Hand', and 'Green River', then we just sat and practiced different licks. She is really a good kid.

i guess it's true what they say about it being better to give than receive. though i think giving yourself that green guitar must have been pretty nice also.

We had a full family get together last night. Maddy played 'All Along the Watchtower' for us, and very well I might add. I gave my brother and my nephew Guitar Hero for their XBox, much to my sister-in-laws chagrin. It was a great evening.
