I tell you one thing, I played one of those J5 three humbucker Tele Deluxes a couple of weeks ago and it was one slick neck. I don't know if someone did a level and dress on it but it was fantastic. Wish I'd had the funds...
He's OK in my book. Plus, looks like he digs 70s Teles. |

My two sons are 12 and 7 years old. They are TOTALLY into John 5, more than any other artist. They think he is almost god-like/ And the fact that he plays a tele "like you do, Dad" and plays country licks "like you do, Dad"... all of a sudden makes it cool, and guilt by association, they listen more to me when it comes to their guitars too.
God bless John-5, and his cute little Jack Russell terriers; which happen to me the favorite dog amongst "men who shall never have girlfriends in lieu of the company of other men". If you, er, get my drift... Best regards, Ward

Thanks for the post! I was particularly fond of that '54 Esquire. Man, that was sweet. Wish he showed the Broadcaster he's so fond of.

Good post. I've never really listened to his music, which meant I had no opinion of him until now. He seems like a neat guy with fine taste in guitars. And, hey, I like seeing someone else who owns a Fender Villager!
Absolutely. I dig that he was so excited by his signature model. It's nice to see someone showing such enthusiasm. |

![]() I guess the only picture of hers I'm allowed to post here. Anyway, you'd have to admire Mr. Lowery's taste in both women and guitars, he goes for "Voluptuous" which applies to both Telecasters and Aria Giovanni

Thank God that John 5 did not fit in with Manson...... He talks about him at the end.

I'm impressed with his stable of Tele's, and his chops, for sure. I've never listened to any of his stuff, but I think that's gonna change! He does seem like a kid in a candy store, sitting with al those jewels. I don't blame him at all, in fact, I'd be drooling all over a collection like that too! The young man has some braggin' rights!

I beg your pardon, sonny? Just because I choose not to hide behind a pseudonym hardly qualifies as my "announcing" anything. That said, sometimes I wish I was right-handed; it would be so much easier to collect vintage Telecasters. Especially considering the fact that when I began collecting, blackguards were under 2K!

Conversely, not everybody actually turns out to be who their username alludes... God only knows that I wish I half as talented as David Gilmour's nail clippings. My brother-in-law and my bassist have the same issue with being lefty. Sadly it leaves you guys with much less choice instruments. As a former musical instrument buyer, I've always lamented the lack of lefty instrments, especially beginner instruments. Fortunately, Fender's got a few lower-priced Squiers in lefty, now, but I think that there would be more lefty guitarists than there are if only the quality student instruments were there. It would explain, however, why David Gilmour and Michael Anthony decided to play righty even though they're left-handed. |

LOL Like I said above, I meant no disrespect. :)
Yes, and he picked a good, mature forum to be on where he can just talk about guitars without being pestered. That's one reason I think that the TDP is a step above the rest of the Internet. |

I guess I could be alone here.
He seems like a good enough guy and he definitely has ability, but I hate that kind of "look how many notes I can play" BS. Didn't all that hammer ons/offs go out with Poison and Malmstein? Did that stuff come back into style when I wasn't looking? No disrespect meant. Like I said, he can play really fast. No doubt about it. He has an audience and that's more than a lot of guys can say. But if I saw that guy playing in a bar, I would most likely walk out. |

I really can't say anything bad about that style as I'm a HUGE EVH fan... I do throw some EVH tapping into my solos occasionally... However, I also throw some country-ish doublestop bends into my solos, too. LOL So, I really kinda identify with J5's musical background. He actually makes me want to get into some bluegrass to see where he's coming from. I mean... That could be the best thing that comes out of guys like him. Sure, he might shred your face off, but a lot of young guitarists do like to find out what their idols like, and if they see that he likes bluegrass and jazz and whatnot, he might indirectly influence the next Les Paul or something. |

I read some John 5 threads from a while back and if he was here he probably left...There was a lot of hate about his guitar and people said things like he should be ashamed and that he dragged Fenders name through the mud.
