Thanks Marko...........................

..............that is one very nice looking guitar. I emailed the owner to compliment him on the fine pictures he used to sell his guitar. WOW!! He did a really nice job.

Thanks for posting the ad, Mark.

1 big diff.

The 1st difference I noticed is that the orange neck is gone. But I like the orange neck on my '98.

I agree. My 99 has a darker tint to the neck. The 2003 in the picture appears to be a bit pale in comparason. Even so, the 03 pictured is a beauty!

That's easy on the eyes . . .

Is that a two-piece body or a three-piece?

Beautiful guitar but I miss the "aged" lacquer neck,

You know............

In the past three years or so I musta bought and sold a half dozen '52 RI's on-line. One was every bit as gorgeous as the '03 but, I ultimately I threw 'em all back. There wasn't a keeper in that bunch.

You just gotta try 'n buy--no getting around it!

Yes I agree the neck tint is a little light on these newest ones but it looks like they got the body color closer.

With the pic showing, hit print screen on your PC, open "paint", go to edit and hit paste. Then save as a jpg and edit it in your own photo prog.

Are the '52 RI's neck's still so sticky? I had a beautiful early 2001 that drove me nuts. I'd buff it lightly with scotchbrite & apply a bit of baby powder, but 45 minutes later it'd be as tacky as when I started. I left it on a wallhanger for the ~year that I owned it in hopes that the finish would dry out & harden up like my SRV neck or the '57 RI I had, but no dice - it was the musical equivalent of flypaper the entire time I owned it.

Wow, Peds, you're right. The distinctive grain totally seems to match up between the two.

I've written the seller to politely ask about this. I'll see what he or she says.

And where'd you see the serial number on the listing you linked to? (Or was that a joke that my morning-after New Year's brain missed?)

52 Tele

That used to be my guitar and it is the same one that I let everyone know about on this board about a week ago. I had it rewired to the modern wiring which this guy failed to mention in his ad, other than that it is in excellent condition.

Re: 52 Tele

There is something really cool about 'slabs'. Don't know that I've ever owned one, hard to find 'em, but they are the best in some ways.
