Gary Lewis' Playboys' Teles.

I was watching videos of Hullabaloo from the '60's that I picked up yesterday from the library. Amazingly cheesy and cool at the same time. Anyway, the guitarists in the Playboys had Teles, one with a rosewood 'board the other had a maple 'board. The rosewood one had a black pickguard while the maple had white. I was wondering if they switched scratchplates. I don't remember black guards on rosewood necked Teles. The white guard was w/b/w laminated and the show was from 1965 or '66. Not much going on with guitar customizing back then.
One of the other shows had The Yardbirds with Jeff Beck doing "I'm a Man" playing the Esquire. The only other Fenders sighted were basses and Bobby Fuller with a Strat. The rest of the guitars were Gibson ES 335 (or 45 or 55's) a Gretsch or two and lots of Rickenbackers. No Les Paul's at all. Graham Nash played a Vox 12-string with the Hollies.

I love those old shows..very cool stuff....Im not sure but I wonder if pickguards and stuff like that was available via your Fender dealer back then ? I got a repro 1964 catalogue..I will see if there are parts in it.
