New Paisley Tele from fender announced at summer namm
So I just read that Fender is releasing two paisley tele's this summer, one is blue paisley and the other is pink.
They look really cool in the pics but the only thing that makes me nervous is that they are made out of basswood. My experience with basswood goes back to having a lot of Ibanez RG's over the years and while cool for a hard rock tone, they didn't have any kind of spank to them for tele playing. Has anyone here had any experience with basswood tele's? I've got an alder tele and an ash tele and they both sound great, just curious about the basswood bodies. http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAM...ower-Tele.html Thanks for any input! |

How's the tone on them? My experience with basswood in the past has been that it has a darker more "spungy" type sound that doesn't have a lot of snap to it. I haven't had the pleasure of trying a basswood tele yet.

I'm talking about the CIJ model; if that's it, the tag on it said $999, but I think that was list, not sale price. I didn't play it, but noticed that it was very light, much lighter than most CIJ teles that I have played...

They are really bright and snappy. Comparable to my MIM Esquire. Maybe a bit brighter.
Wood doesn't really play as much a part in electric guitar tone as a lot of people seem to think. It's mostly pickups. Your experience with basswood guitars was with hot humbuckers. I've had a few RGs and was always able to get a good tone by raising the pickups, or even going to a more vintage output pickup. Last edited by e-merlin : June 21st, 2008 at 01:16 PM. |

Right now most dealers are putting them up on eBay for $999. I think Sam Ash is sticking to that price too. Dave's is selling for less than that. I'm waiting for these to propogate over to some local dealers so I can get my hands on one before I buy. I really want one though...

Yep. I got one -- it's the lightest-weight, and liveliest-sounding Tele I own. Can't say enough good things about it!

have owned the blue flower tele for last 3 years. It is my number one, i put in fralins, 4 way switch , It is a killer neck (just lucky i guess) and the basswood body is light , sounds great this a keeper will never let it go.
