Telecaster lapsteel project in progress ...

Hi every body im Romain and i come from canada and i love telecaster guitar. But i'm a fan of lapsteel guitar. Then i think to build myself with pine wood a lapsteel telecaster.

I buy telecaster bridge and 250k pot for volume and 500k ohm for tone
and TL4R kent armstrong pick-up. Pro-line keys and i know what cord i need .018 to .056 for open g and i think take plexi glass mirror for my nut fretboard.
The color of that lapsteel will be dark brown on the back and cedar color on top. The cedar will be applicated on the pine wood just for the look. I have 2 chrome button for volume and tone.

i think is a nice project and you what you think ? ;)

Cool............ great idea. Check out the Rednecks at Lapdancer. These necks would be pretty easy to make.

It's not metric but the great Terry Downs has provided us with this drawing which should have any dimension you need.

It the picture for my part and i have order my cords 18 to 56 and my capacitor .047 mfd 1000v and i have my female output jack.
i'm not sure if it 1000v or 1000kv but it not 400 or 600v

My part :

That my guitar "please don't laugh to much it home made ;) !!"

That make two weekend how i work on it with my father because i'm not verry good with some work tool like the router but i'm good in sanding and vernish and mounting. That will be dark and vernish clear with 3 coat.

Welcome to the forum mrgnome! And i'm excited to watch your steel project unfold!

Those rednecks are awesome. On one of the crossroads dvds Jerry Douglas plays a tele with huge neck like those rednecks. Always wondered if I someone could rig something like that up. So... a tele lap steel with some benders....
