Stereo/audiophile tips suggestions other forums
I finally got some decent mid level home speakers but he rest of my stereo set up is comprised of yardsale, nothing over $ 20. Considering that I have high end "audiophile" quality guitar gear yet I have junk stereo to listen to my 3000 plus vinyl/CD collection. In other words i hvae the classic guitar players stereo system. I lean towards the more vintage stereos for the same reason alott of us lean towards vintage gear but I know next to nothing about the hifi world. I mainly looking for a amp/reciever and would welcome any suggestions and /or other like minded forums. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

I've always been partial to Yamaha, Onkyo, and Pioneer myself. Sony has been making some decent stuff lately, but you sound like you need something reliable. Yamaha all the way, killer stuff without killing the bank.

Just bragging...
I just got a pair of '70's Harmon Kardon speakers at a thrift store for $2.00. I didn't even think they'd work, but it turns out that they're the best sounding speakers I've got. They sound like you're wearing the worlds biggest headphones, no, the turn my whole house into headphones....
As for your original question, be careful. There is a lot of really nice stuff out there, and it's just as addicting as guitar gear. One day you might find yourself unable to be happy unless you've got that $10,000 turntable.....

Thanks for the tips
I could not contain myself and bought a system yesterday. I boughjt a new Rega Brio amp and a used Rega Planet CD player. I like the simplicity of there stuff being a Tweed amp guy and a tele player, very basic but very functional design. The CD player even sounds somewhat analog.I just need to eventually upgrade my turntable and I'll have all I need.(yea right!!!) I now for the 1st time in my life have a killer sounding stereo of if I may ...Hifi system

Hey Brian:
I live in the Seattle area as well and am looking to purchase updated HiFi gear to replace the junk I have now. Did you buy locally? If so, care to make a recommendation?

Hawthorn Audio
is where I went on Roosevelt just south of 65th st. They sell new and used and were very helpful, of course the more informed you are the better. we spent close to 2 hours there a/b'ing a number of different combos.

Thanks
....dude. Appreciate the tip. I am so tired of visiting Circut City etc and talking with "salesmen" who know next to nothing about the product they are selling.
