Re-wiring the N5 Tele

So I'm not happy with my tele's wiring. It's a stock J5 Body with the upper horn LP toggle and 2 Vols (pups are a Twisted tele neck and TV Jones MagnaTron Bridge).

The LP toggle is dodgy. It sometimes goes dead when I switch to the bridge pup. I never really cared for the switch anyhoo.

This is what I'm thinking for options
1) Blend knob on the upper horn, 1 Vol, 1 Tone
2) Tone on horn, 2 Vols on plate

I'd like to go back to having a tone control. The question is what do I do and if I replace the LP toggle with a Pot, what length pot will I need? Should I get a long shaft LP style pot? Will a standard pot be long enough?
