Only 2 different baja colors right??
I know for sure there is desert sand which is a tanish color. But when people show off their blonde blackguard bajas i see different shades of blonde. The light color blonde hardly can see the grain and 52ri butterscotch kinda color. Im making sure so i know what to color to ask for because i like the butterscotch where you can see the grain alittle.

Fender initially released the following colors:
There are several theories for why Fender made the switch but the most popular is so that the Baja wouldn't cut in on the sales of their Deluxe models which come in Butterscotch and cost about $500 more You can still find the Butterscotch Blonde models from time to time... but it is rare... some might even say just finding the newer "Blonde" version can be rare... it seems like they remain out of stock in many locations so a lot of people "settle" for the Dessert Sand. NOTE: I say "settle" because that is how people looking for the "blonde" feel but the Dessert Sand color is really nice too |

Hmmmmm. I bought a Baja as soon as they were available and I've never seen, nor heard of, a "butterscotch" version. Sorry, I'm going to have to see some proof of their existence!

Blonde:
![]() Desert Sand: ![]() They're the only colors available. But it's usual to see the Blonde with other names. Fender calls it Blonde. |

ProSound And Stage Lighting (PSSL) has a picture of the Butterscotch Blonde Baja on their site:
http://www.pssl.com/Fender-Classic-P...ecaster-Guitar I contacted them several times a while back to confirm that it was actually the "butterscotch blonde" and not the newer "blonde" or "vintage blonde". One of their reps took a look at their stock and he was pretty sure what they had was indeed "butterscotch blonde". One word of caution though is that when Fender made the switch they used the exact same Part Number, 0141502307, so some stores such as PSSL kept the same photos since the part number didn't change. Most all of the web stores I have seen have updated their photos but for some reason PSSL hasn't. There has been a lot of confusion about this switch... I researched it here a while back and found that some thought the Butterscotch Blonde was a "limited edition" while others tossed out the non-compete theory based on the American Deluxe Ash that has the Butterscotch Blonde finish and is more expensive. I tend to favor with the non-compete theory because it makes sense. Butterscotch Blonde is Fender's money maker, to put out a new product featuring that color and then put the same color on a cheaper Mexican guitar would undercut their sales. |

I was looking into one of these last earlier this year. The color is refered to as "Vintage Blonde". At the time, none of the GCs in my area carried them. In fact, few of them knew that they existed. You had to special order them cause they only had Desert Sand. Its funny because Fender/Squier uses three completely different finishes that they refer to as "Vintage Blonde".
