I haven't been to Les Paul Heaven, so I'm not sure exactly what constitutes a super dealer. When I was there a few weeks ago, Truetone music in Santa Monica had several Nocasters, a few American Standards, a few other American Standard variants, at least one Baja Tele and at least one Custom Classic (I think--it's the Custom Shop model that looks like an American Standard but has a thicker neck). They also had a couple of "vintage" 70s Teles. That's about the widest selection of Teles I've seen at a store in SoCal.

Wild West Guitars in Riverside usually has a number of Custom Shop models, primarily relics.

The Guitar Center on Sunset usually has a few older (50s, 60s, 70s) Teles in their Vintage room.

The "music strip" on Sunset Boulevard is sure to have a lot of teles. There's the gigantic Guitar Center, huge Sam Ash, as well as many smaller buy/sell/trade places. So if you happen to be near there, check it out.

I've never been there but if I was ever in Southern California again (very unlikely) I'd check out Buffalo Brothers in Carlsbad. They seem to have a selection of all the major brands.

They have an outstanding selection of acoustics, but their solid body selection is fairly limited. On the other hand, they have the wonderful "100% Upgrade Policy".

FANTASTICAL

=========================
"When you buy an instrument from us, you can TRADE it back in for the same price you paid toward a more expensive guitar! Who else does this?!? Say you buy a guitar from us for $1,000. But six weeks, six months, six years, six whatevers later you wish you had that fancy abalone inlay version for $1,500 instead. You can then upgrade your guitar and get your full $1,000 in trade and only pay the $500 difference! So right now you're saying, "How can you guys do it? What's the hook?""

Sounds like you know already, but Centre City is not a Fender dealer.

They have lessened my wallet significantly! Including just this past Friday (no tele content). If you make the trip there, which is up in the Valley, Norman's Rare Guitars is fairly close, they are also a Custom Shop dealer and generally also have some nice vintage stuff. They both will give you a pretty good price compared to Musicians Friend prices on new Fender CS.

Just stay away from the '52 Thinskins. ($400 more than Wildwood).
