To be brutally Honest...way more trouble than it's worth....there was a reason it was painted a solid color...might be quite a surprise when you strip it...

Ditto...Figure you could get $150 for your current body on ebay...buy an unfinished body for $100 (ebay) plus $15 for Butterscotch Blonde Nitro, $15 for Tinted Nitro for top coats and $10 for grain filler (reranch)....$140 out the door and it's easy to do.

Or, buy the $150 MIM 50s Butterscotch body on eBay and avoid the finishing hassle.

I agree with the others, swap the body. Midnight Wine was only done as a poly finish (that I'm aware), you couldn't pay me what the bodies worth to strip one of those, did it once, never again.

+1000! I know that many of us here have learned this the hard way.

Also, without getting all pseudo-religious on you...it has been said that at least one individual throughout history has changed water into wine. So how hard could it be to turn wine into butterscotch?

Don't do it. Buy a replacement body or just by a new guitar...free advice.
