Hill Country Guitars '58 Tele Relic

Has anyone had a chance to play the one-off '58 relics that Hill Country is bringing in? Any feedback would be great. Sounds like they have the '58 soft-V profile, plus vintage frets/radius - all essentials on my wish list. Looks like they're doing a conservative relic job, and the price is much more reasonable than most of the CS Tele's.

Thanks,
James

If it's a "one-off" then there's only one of them made. Maybe they requested a limited run for their store?

HCG's guitars are excellent. I got my NOS '58 there, and it's a wonderful instrument. I love the Soft-V profile, which really is my favorite. Hill Country Guitars is a nice store with high quality instruments. The owner, Kevin, is a good guy as well. He is also quite meticulous, it seems, about his stock.

The Custom Shop guitars tend to be from specs that he has chosen, and I think he prides himself on not having guitars that you could find at a Guitar Center.

Although I haven't played one of the relic models he's had in the store, my experience with Kevin tells me that they would be fine instruments. I would have no problem buying from there without playing it first; then again, since I live in Texas I'd just drive down there so I wouldn't have to wait on UPS!

The guys there will be really straight with you. Just ask them about it and if it was me I'd trust their description.
