Picking up a 52 RI today!

This is the one I thought was a one-piece body. On closer inspection the wood is bookmatched but the joint is right under the control plate/pickguard, so you can only tell from the side and back.

It's a little orange, but it's also the best playing and sounding guitar I've ever heard.

I'll post a weight and pics by tomorrow, I'm just very excited

Yes, I'm very lucky. All the money I make either goes towards my girlfriend or guitar stuff :)

Best to ya, young man. You'll have a fine guitar, and when you're in your 30's it'll hold some special memories.

That's some nice gear you've got there! I have exactly the same amp... A '77 too... Sweet...

Congrat's on the new Telecaster - she's a real beauty...

Here's the Guitar I got when I was 16... (Still got it too!) I still love it as much as the day I got it... Not a Telecaster - but the next best thing I guess!! I hope you have a similar love for your new '52 for many years to come!!

Very cool...

Lover-ley tele, Hamish. Nice pics, too.

To join the 'when I was 16' malarkey, I had a secondhand japanese Les Paul Custom copy with a bolt on neck. It was my old man could afford. It was actually pretty awful by todays budget guitar standards. But to me, at that time, it was the greatest guitar in the world.

The only Living British Blues Boy In New York, that looks like a 'Smith' stratocaster? 1982 would be about right for that. I bought my 52RI in June of that year, and my friend a white standard 'Smith' stratocaster. The first stratocaster with the smaller - though not quite accurate pre-CBS shape - headstock, featuring an X-1 lead Pup, if my memory serves me well. If so, it's one hell of a guitar. My friend sold his and has regretted it ever since.

When I was getting my first electric at 15-16, I didn't even consider a Tele. How sad is that? It was between a new Strat and a new Les Paul Deluxe. Went with the LP. It wasn't until years later that I discovered Fenders.

But I've tried to make up for it since then.

Congratulations! A '52 reissue and a '77 Deluxe Reverb--the world is yours.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!

To further add to the whole "when I was 16" discussion, my girlfriend bought a BlackFace Bandmaster w/ cab yesterday!
