These frets are like: real fat jumbo frets that have had a couple level and crowns on them... Like a gibby that is five years from needing a refret. It is a shame they went with these frets really.... but like i said, for the price, not a deal breaker, but an odd choice indeed. The frets will please few, they are not vintage enough for the vintage doodz and not tall enough for those of us who thought the 70s (thick poly, small frets and vintage radius) would never end. |

Thanks for the info. Fat and low is the exact opposite of what I prefer. And for me that is a deal breaker. Hopefully, everyone else enjoys their 50s Vibe Tele. |

my feel gauges tell me .032.
If they were any lower i would not have bought the guitar. I don't have a digital caliper so i can't tell you how fat but they look like they are .100-.110 ... so think Dunlop 6130s that's what these are (or are like) -k |

My Dial Caliper reads .035 tall and .105 wide. The fret wire is taller than what we can measure due to the thick gloss finish on the fretboard covering the lower half of the fret. They would also measure wider if the finish wasn't in the way. This is a sure nice neck and fretboard. it looks, feels and plays wonderfully!

.032 ... .035 ... Close enough for gov't work. I am not a pro, i just stick the feely gauges in there and eyeball it.
This guitar plays great. What a treat. I might hit mine with a little 0000 steel wool on the neck next time i change strings. The poly is a little "grippy" on mine (one reason why i usually prefer rosewood boards). I guess i'll be fixing that jack and while i am at it swaping out the pots, but i'll wait till i have all the parts to do that. For now the stock p/ups stay in. I plugged into my low-vol set up today (1/2 watt amp + 12" speaker). Good times. This guitar is so much fun to play. I might use it for my gig on Sat. If the jack stays in that long. |

Has anyone pulled the bridge pup to see if it has a baseplate yet ?
Anyone do any sound clips or a youtube on this guitar yet ? I'm very ready to pull the trigger on one today (with the MF free financing)

Got my CV Tele today from MF and I have to agree with most of the positive reviews about this guitar...it is truly a solid instrument! The finish of the body, the tint of the neck, the fret dress, the tuners, the controls, the overall feel of this guitar make for a totally acceptable instrument for any level of player, imho.
I only have two niggles, one of which is completely subjective: 1) The nut slots have been filed down a bit too far...perhaps the buzzing will go away as the neck settles in but I'll probably just try a thicker string gauge in a few days to see if that helps. 2) While others have seemed impressed with the electronics/pickups in this guitar I am not. If a solid tele neck pickup sound can be described as "bell-like," then this neck pu sounds like a bell with a towel over it. The bridge is ok, too, but nothing to write home about. Both pickups lack that "organic" quality that is so integral to the clean/dirty telecaster sound (imho). The nut issue may resolve itself, we'll see. As far as the pickups go, I was planning on replacing these anyway so now I can get creative in the process (Duncan Seth Lover in the neck, Broadcaster in the bridge? used and on the cheap, of course;)). Overall, this guitar is really nice! Oh and it weighs around 8lbs, just about what my other two tele's weigh. |

I havent.......yet! Well, i told my dealer about them and hes ordering a few in to try but it turns out my brother is off to LA next month so could save me $150ish by bringing one back with him, where would be the best place to get one in central/bevery hills area? He doesnt mind travelling a small way for it but obviously thats not the main reason hes there lol! Cheers

NO...you are not alone. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I gotta move a current guitar (selling of my strat...I've grown tired of strat tones), then I pick one of these CV Teles up. I guess new pups need to be considered too based on the reviews. I'm thinking Tone Riders.

What are pine's sound/tone qualities? Bright? What would it be comparable to, maple, basswood? Anyone care to enlighten me?
These do look interesting. I would certainly have to play one in a shop first though. Also, are these Alnico III pups, the same as the Highway 1 (upgrade)? |

Sweet, Like a nice piece of ash! Pine has a tone-full, resonant sound that is kinda mid range-y. IMO I have two Pinecaster's made of a solid chunk of northern white pine (Pinemart bodies). I finished one with bee's wax and the other with tru-oil. Both of them have a real loud tap tone and almost talk when you handle them. The CV Tele has allot of these same qualities but the wood is a bit more dense and it has a thicker finish than my others, still, the CV Tele is pretty loud unplugged.

Why don't one of you Classic Vibe owners who isn't afraid, disassemble the guitar and take some good pictures (no flash of course) so many of these questions can be answered.
