I recently decided that although my chops aren't any good I needed to add the CV 50's strat and 50's tele into my lineup. In the process I am selling an acoustic and an old classical that I have laying around. My agreement to myself is that I could order either the tele or the strat now and get the other one in December as a present to myself for graduating from college. After much debate I decided on the tele however they are out of stock until October so I decided to fore go the wait and get the strat. Although I won't be the owner of the tele, I should have the strat no later than thursday. I hope it is as good as the tele!

I know of 4 places I could go get the 50's strat right now but until last week I hadn't seen the tele anywhere. I never thought it would still be there when I went back. I wouldn't mind having one of the strats as well. Let us know what your take on it is when you get it. It has the Alnico 3 pickups in it but I wonder how hot or vintage sounding they are.

Ya I will for sure. The tele seems to be the hot one of the bunch. I honestly can't find it within 300 miles of my location however I can find the 60's strat and occasionally the 50's strat at a couple local locations. I am perfectly happy with grabbing the strat first. As much as I like teles and the tele community I am a strat lover and the 2-tone sunburst is truly a classic.

ccrnnr99, I test drove a strat in Van Buren, AR last week and I'll bet money you're gonna love it. If I didn't already have a strat body to build, I'd buy one to keep my CV Tele company.

These guitars are killing me!!! I can basically only make a few gear purchases, and its been a good year so far! But, this Classic Vibe series is just killing me. I've only played the Duo Sonic so far, and the quality just blew my mind!! I really loved it. Obviously the Strats and Tele would be more versatile though, and I'm killin' to try them. I've never heard or seem of a Tele like this for the money, and the Tele is what I'm inclined to go with first, but that 50's Strat looks so sweet too. How you liking it man?

I hope you got all the little details worked out, Alamo. Particularly what ever caused your neck pup to sound weaker. I like 10's on all of my Tele's too. I like the Fender 250R or the Gibson "Vintage Reissue" pure nickel string (Both .010-.046).

I love the sound of my Vibe Tele!!!

GHS .010-.052? I tried the fat bottom type string and didn't care for them. The do help with the buzz when you drop the E to D though.

I too love this series of guitars! I bought a duosonic in July and loved it although simply found that it wasn't what I wanted and because money doesn't grow on trees for me I figured I could use the money to grab either a strat or a tele. I put off my decision too long as the tele is now out of stock but my strat comes tomorrow! I will tell you how it works out.

I hope they don't raise the prices on these guitars before I have the chance to grab the tele. I am dying to get one and replace the neck pickup with a mini humbucker.

Thanks guys :)

I'll go .010 -.046, pure nickel next time - but I need to get some mileage out of those fat-bottom-ghs first.
I'm not happy with them, but I can't afford to waste another set of strings... after this unforeseen purchase of the CV.

I raised the neck-pup last night, which was a bit strange.
there weren't springs or rubber tubings to be found, just one piece of rubber foam and the pickup just sits there.
losening the screws didn't raise the pup, so I placed a piece of rubber (ice-cream-lolly-stick-size) underneath the foam and backed off the bridge pickup a tad - that helped.

...untill the next tweaking.

I ordered the Tele first and was so impressed, I ordered the Strat and ever since, I have not had gas for anything else.

These 2 guitars provide enough inspiration between them to keep me content for a quite a while!

The only major change I have done to either, was the tremolo with the steel block from GFS in the Strat. Definite difference in tone. (YMMV)

This is good to hear. I really am a bit disappointed as the tele is what I truly wanted but the strat looks awesome as well. I just checked UPS and it is out for delivery today. I hope they don't make me wait all afternoon to get her.

As far as the tremolo goes, will an american block fit in the CV? I have a leftover american block and trem arm.

Well i have the same problem with the neck pup on my CV tele. I was thinking on putting small springs on the screws...
But as i am not a telecaster expert (it's my first) i don't realy know if this pup wickness is normal or if i have to change it for a di marzio or something...

HI!
I'm a new member and this is my CV Tele.
I've made a little modification: gold anodized pickguard and an ashtray.

Well, mine arrived a few days ago from MF. I've seen pics of some that looked very white but mine is more of a vintage white color. I pluged it into my line 6 amp and took her for a test drive. Wow, right outta the box, the set up was pretty good (for me anyway), she's put together extremely well and sounds KILLER!!!! The neck feels good to me.

I put my Hwy 1 Texas tele back into it's case, that's how much I like this axe. This squier is much better than the std mim tele I had and better than the BSB Affinity I just sold to help fund this axe. Man, I'm one happy camper with this squier. At $299, don't hesitate to pull the trigger!!

Hi all, I'm new to TDPRI and I know three must be an "introduce yourself" thread, but this seems like the perfect place for me to start because...your pages of reviews, pics etc have convinced me to make my first Tele the CV 50! I can't thank you all enough for this valuable resource!

I actually have to return an Affinity Special Edition today; I was given a floor model when I ran in just before closing, and at home it seemed one pup switch position is dead, and the tape wrapping the bridge pup is torn and coming off. My bad, I take blame too - should have tied it out but work and fatherhood being what it is, time is limited.

Anyway I thought I had better see what else is shaking with Squier before I make that final order, and Google led me here. You guys are the best, your knowledge has helped me make a decision I'm pretty sure I won't regret. So thanks, and see you around when I have time to read and write. BTW, I am coming from a reggae, funk and R&B background. Maybe the Tele seems an odd choice to some, but for me that clean sweet twangy sound is just what I need for all my work.

regards,
OldSkool.

Edit: should clarify, this is my first guitar in years, I have been mainly a drummer but have made a little hobby studio at home.

I got to try the duosonic and the Tele yesterday when I went to another town to do some X-mas shopping.

I was shocked at how light they are. Fit, finish etc. was great on both guitars.

But ... in my neck of the woods (North of Toronto Ontario Canada), the Tele was $350 + taxes. That price, combined with the fact that the neck just didn't do it for me, made me pass on it. I got a completely upgraded used MIM Natural Ash for only about $50 more used. The CV would have required some part changes, and it would have been too much.

I found the Dousonic a really cool little guitar. It had a really unique sound to it. Again, it was a little too much in CAD, or it might have been the one I jumped on.
