True, but here's a quote from the Aussie who posted the info:
"My dealer reckons these are great players, he got to try one out at an Aussie Fender shin dig."
And the link the the forum where I heard about it first:

I don't see why they would let Fender dealers in Australia play them if they were not going to be made available to them to sell. Its one thing to tell them about it, its another thing to let them play it...

My guess, they will be "to the public" at the upcoming summer Namm show.
Sam Ash probably just jumped the gun on putting it on the net (actually probably not supposed to yet)!

That's a really cool deal right there... Somebody deserves a raise at fender.

There's an Australian store with a category for them online (though none listed at the moment)
http://www.venuemusic.com.au/SubCate...&SubCatID=1230

And a comment on the Fender forums that there are basses coming out in the series too
http://www.fender.com/community/foru...173dbc343fb4f2

So when does Summer NAMM start???

Those look awesome. I'm very impressed with my Vintage modified 70's style Jazz Bass, can't wait to see these guitars.

These look pretty sweet! I love it when they sell guitars for cheaper than you can throw one together!
Are they only offered in blonde, or are other colors available? I didn't see any color options.

On the Samash site it says that the Tele has a pine body.

I sure hope these are Indonesia, as opposed to India.

I played a couple of those tun VM Teles the other day, a light chrome red one and a medium to heavy black one ( India, the 24.75 scale thinlines are China ). They're closer to right in some ways than they seemed earlier, but a 50's Classic Strat or Jimmie Vaughan or 50's CIJ Tele w/bigsby totally crushes them, at least straight off the hook and into the Twin.

My hope is based on the factoid that the Indian ones have all been tun, and have not appeared in any numbers. However, the new Squier Deluxe Strat ( sonic blue, white ) is pretty good but almost impossible to find and that is Indonesia as well. Basswood, like these Vibe basses.

Isn't Pine highly "dentable"?

I'm wondering what the finish over the pine is.

It doesnt matter what wood they use if it has .050 polyurethane coating on it.

I think this is the first Squier Tele (since the MIJs) with vintage tuners.
Sure makes upgrading a little easier. Bridge, too.

Bwahahahaha! Good one!

Anyhow, I'm wondering how much one would have to sink into it to make it as good as an MIM Reissue? I'd have to swap the neck, bridge, and probably the electronics. Still, I have most of the stuff I'd need, well, except for the neck,

why? if it is as good as the neck on the '51 was i'd leave it.

I bet the p/ups are pretty good too. I bet you could get a by with just a nut and tuner upgrade and have a real nice guitbox.

As for dentable? Basswood is already pretty dentable. I can't imagine Pine is much worse.

Fender--why do you tempt me? I can't TAKE this!!!

I do NOT need another guitar--ANY guitar, not just a Tele--but for $300 bucks? PINE!? And with that BRIDGE!?

DAMN you Fender! Damn you to HELL!

I'm going to resist until that model comes out in red sunburst with white binding, and I'm willing to go to $325 for that, not a penny more.

But I'll pay $400 if they lose the Squier logo.

Are we sure this pine Squier Tele is a full 25.5" scale? Not a 24.75" like the Vintage Modified Telecaster Thinline?

Because for me, modding wise, that really would be a kick in the nuts.

Until Squier publishes the specs, we don't know the nitty gritty about it at all. The writeup at samash is short - lacking lots of details. We are mostly going by the mostly low resolution image - which does look like a killer guitar
