Playing anything (lead, rhythm, bass, mando, tamborine, triangle, broom, drive the van) for Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller or Dan Penn. One that seems to be just as impossible for me right now is just to able to get to Austin to see Redd Volkaert on his Saturday afternoon gig. I know that one can be accomplished but not a Sat. goes by that I don't think about being there & hearing his Tele twang.

Ricky J and I want the same gig. Maybe we can fill in for Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray.

I saw McCartney's tour twice last year whne he toured the US. Both times I found myself looking at those guys and saying " How did they ever get a gig like that?"

My second choice would be to swap licks with Vince Gill. A great guitar player!

My ideal gig would be to play in the Ray Charles Band. Great songs, good hotels (I guess), and you get to sit down most of the night. (By the way, does Ray still feature the Rayettes?)
I guess the ultimate "Tele" gig would be the to step in the shoes of Redd and Nichols with the Strangers.

..my top choices would be as follows:

Playing rythym guitar in Marty Stuart's band
Taking Bob Wooten's place in Cash's band (I could handle all of the leads for a Cash show)
Playing alongside Wayne "Animal" Turner in The Bama Band (Hank Jr's band)
I'm honestly not good enough to play lead for Merle or Buck but it would be a dream to play with either of them.
To back anyone up on the Opry stage. (I don't care if I had to play tamborine, just to be on that stage at least one time)
Playing with Travis Tritt
Playing with Dwight Yoakam
another great gig, for me at least, would be to play with KISS. I can't see them "allowing" a Tele onstage so I'd have to go back to a Les Paul for a bit, but I could suffer with that. Besides I already have experience putting on "that" make-up, but that's another story.

Ben Harmless---I'd love to hear the story about you playing guitar for Green Day.

Lance---Couldn't all of the silicone at the Mansion be harmful to your Taylor??? *G*

Some of you beat me on the Mary Chapin Carpenter gig, so I guess I'll have to stand in line...I would be satisfied to be an obsure guitar in the background and let Jennings or Dukie take all the leads...for that matter I would roadie or sweep the floors that she walked on if that was what was needed...the guy that hands her all her guitars, THAT would be cool...

...either that or acoustic guitar behind Alison Kraus...

...or go way back and back Linda Ronstadt in the 70's, before she did the "new wave" stuff (Mad Love, etc.)

Interesting comment on Macca above, when we saw him last year, Rusty Young played a white Firebird, and once again copped ALL the tones from various songs.
