Shouldn't there be a custom shop decal on the back of the headstock? Methinks someone put on a cs neckplate.

No one's bid on it yet because it had only been listed for 40 minutes when I just checked it ........... 18 minutes when you posted.

There is a Custom Shop decal on the back of the headstock.

Never seen one like this. What is the back wood? Maybe this is one of the rare modern day pawn shop finds.

mellecaster............ since it's in a pawn shop 10 miles from you, you could swing by and check it out. I found this address.

Fast Cash Pawnbrokers
1940 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401

What is that scratched on the back of the headstock?

It looks pretty nice, but not CS level. And that case looks suspiciously similar to my $39 GC tweed case.

The only times I've had sour deals on eBay were when the seller was a pawn shop.
  • they have 3 eBay ID's
  • distracting multicolor text
  • there's little info on the actual item
  • way more information on their selling/payment rules
  • escape clause buried in the rules

Ask them if you can go look at it before bidding and let us know. It might turn out to be a treasure.

I dunno. That thing doesn't look at all Fender to me. It would be really nice to hear what you had to say about it if you went to see it. My guess is it aint read.

Pawn Shops love to claim "clueless" when they sell this stuff.

I've had good luck with pawn shops on eBay.......... one was a nearly mint MIJ Rosewood Telecaster.

Pawn shop owners aren't neccessarily guitar players.

I have two Fender tweed cases and one of the Musician's Friend tweed cases. That is a Fender case.

Isn't CN-XXX a Fedner/Japan serial number? If so, the Custom Shop neckplate seems out of place.

No it's not.

Here's another Custom Shop neckplate with a CN serial number. This one is on a Custom Shop Telecaster 12.

I'm pretty confident the wood on the back is alder.

There's 4 days to go. Anything can happen.

Is there any way you can take that serial number and get with the Fender Custom Shop to get some specs? Just an idea, and I''d definately check it out first if I were as close as you are.

In some auctions, I'll refuse to ship to Canada. I'll explain my reasoning. I can't guess at other folks' reasons but I'll explain my own.

I sometimes, on more expensive larger items (including guitars) will list a set low shipping fee or will allow for free shipping. I do this because actual shipping is difficult to determine on an item that can't be packaged until the auction close (as bidders may ask for additional pictures of a specific part of the item).

When I do this I exclude Canada, entirely. I used to say that Canadian bidders were welcome, so long as they contacted me and worked out the shipping costs before bidding. That all changed with one auction. I listed a $500 ish guitar (a strat, I think). It sold to a Canadian bidder who did NOT contact me first (despite explicit instructions to do so in the ad) before bidding. A minute or so after the auction closed, while I was at work, he then (still without contacting me) sent me money via paypal auction value plus the $25 I'd asked for DOMESTIC shipping. I had the guitar weighed and found that shipping would be over $100. When I contacted him about it, he threw a huge fit and had a hold put on my Paypal account until I returned all of his money. Since then, I don't allow Canadian bidders on items unless I'm doing actual shipping (which I rarely do). If any of you folks have better suggestions for how to handle this, I'd LOVE to hear them. I'd like to sell to Canada . . . and to go there, actually. A lot of my favorite artists never leave Canada.

Anyway, that's my $.02 (which, incidentally, is now worth what, one Canadian cent? :) ).

That is a thing of beauty and it doesn't even have a reserve auction price on it. That's a rare CS one off that's worth some money... in my opinion anyway.

If it's near you go look at that beauty!!

Last night the page came up as "This item is not available" on a generic eBay page like they use when they yank an auction. But it is back.

I can see the logo now, just a bad lighting angle doesn't show the left chevron. It looked like a signature engraving over a little rocket ship. Maybe the whole thing would look a lot nicer with less harsh lighting.

I'm sure it will reach beyond my meager means, But I'm keeping my eye on it just the same. I'd probably like it more if it didn't have the f-hole.

mellecaster, if I were just a little closer (I'm down in VA) I'd drive over and take a look myself. I have a serious envy of anyone who owns an actual rosewood tele.

Add me to that club too, I know nothing, but that one looks cool from where I'm sitting.
