Frank Black/Black Francis
Rick Parfitt
Hugh Cornwell (though some of his solos are sublime)
Robert Quine
Wilko Johnson (though he mixes lead/rhythm)

+2 on Steve Cropper!

Didn't David Knopfler play a tele on the first couple of Dire Straits albums? His rhythm playing was fairly important in the mix to allow his big brother to fill the holes!

With regard to the great Keith Richards....his playing, because it is so "out front"
in the mix and anchors and propels most Stones songs is more of a "lead rhythm" style like Pete Townsend, only with a second guitarist doing the fills and some solos. I think Keith was more of a traditional rhythm player during the Mick Green era.

Bobby Womack, Brewer Philips, Pops Staples, James Burton.
I think Leo Nocentelli played some of the Meters best stuff on a Tele (before
the Starcaster). Cropper, of course.

In my book, Steve Cropper is sitting on the top of the Tele-Rhythm-World!!! And his solos are classy too.

No argument - Cropper rocks. Still like Keef though.

Nice guys. I had no intention of saying he/she has to be a strictly rhythm player... I mean who cant throw in the odd solo or stinging blues lick. but keep em coming also please recommend a great Cornell Dupree and Steve Cropper album all tele owners have to have!!!

Thanks
