Craigslist tele ... sort of weird

Does anyone know anything about this guitar?

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/msg/690125618.html

The guy has listed it about 8 different times, and with a different set of pics. he was also talking about trades in several. Something about the listing just seems weird to me or I would buy this in a hot second. maybe im paranoid? maybe he just really wants to sell it?

Sounds like an average price for a better than average guitar. Throw in availability of a LEFTY with vintage appointments and you spell: good deal for a left handed player..... IIRC: these were originally referred to as 50s MIJ RIs. If I was a lefty, and wanted this version, I'd pull the trigger...... go for it. You don't like it, you can always put it on craigs list or in the classifieds here. Call the guy, negotiate. Send money........ wait for guitar........ play it. Enjoy and good luck

My favorite guitar that I own is a CIJ tele custom RI, the made/crafted in Japan fenders are really nice guitars. That's a REALLY good price for what you're getting.

Go play it -- if there's nothing wrong with it, BUY BUY BUY.

As a owner of a few Japanese Fender Telecasters I saw absolutely nothing weird about that guitar ...... other than it being left handed.

Why are there so many threads about supposedly wierd guitar listings for perfectly legitimate looking guitars?

Fender didn't put "Telecaster" on left handed models in the '50s and they don't put it on left handed American Vintage '52s. If you look at the placement of "Fender", there's no room for "Telecaster".

......

Because of the price and when I first found the listing he had relisted it a slightly new way every day for about a week. So I figured that no way the guitar hangs around that long for that cheap without some sort of weirdness. Like I said I am in GA and would need him to ship it so there is more trust needed than a standard EBAY or local CL transaction.

It's the ads that were weird not the guitars...One was clearly a Deluxe Tele listed as a 52ri and the other the guy listed 8 times with different pics.

Better safe than sorry, who else better to ask.

It sounds fishy:

You should never have to CALL a guy on eBay about anything--plus you said it's been listed more than once? And he says to call because he "hardly ever checks his email," yet he's selling on eBay?

I might be wrong by a Tennessee mile, but these seem like red flags to me.
