Keep It
I personally think you should keep the art on the Tele. It's well done and it adds character to it. Someone must have really liked the guitar to put the effort into making it unique. If you just can't stand it, sell the guitar to me. I don't mind it one bit. btw, nice score. I don't see too many 50's Classics on eBay. Or maybe I'm not looking in the right place at the right time. How does it play?

I was starting to think someone must have loved this Tele to paint that Buffalo skull on it get an early 70's Fender case for it and an ash tray for the bridge.
I cant see the painting while playing so for now I'm gonna keep it. |

That's a cool looking Tele you got there, Mark!
My guitar cases have buffalo skull car-window stickers on them. I'd leave it there too. It looks great. I was just talking about this topic yesterday with a friend who operates an Indian jewelry shop in our town. The symbol of the buffalo skull and eagle feathers portrays life and health. It is an expression of reverence for these magnificent animals and the life and sustenance they provided Native Americans for centuries. Have a good day! Matt |

Looks like it has a nice fat neck. I tried a 50s MIM at guitar center the other night, I have a tele now which weighs in at 8.5 pounds and I'd like to get a lighter one to put a Hip Shot on. The MIM 50s at g.c was horrid! The pickups were weak and the neck was really skinny. However to be fair it did need a set up. The back of the neck didn't look anything like yours Mark. Were there better years for these? Does anyone else fidn it odd that the neck profiles can be so different on guitar thats being produced in the 21 century?
I say keep the Buffalo atleast for now, it does look like whom ever had it before you liked it. |

Hey, I know what to do.
Just take a Sharpie and write "Roy Nichols" on the headstock. Or right next to the artwork on the body. (You could even fake a signature if ya wanted to...)
Then the guitar will forever be your: "Buffalo Nichols" model. Arf. Sorry, it was just too awful a pun to pass up. ;-) CS |

Good tight neck pocket the whole guitar is mint I even took off the plastic on the pickguard. I have heard that Fender is making V and U shaped necks on the 50's Classics now so if anyone plays a new one that has a thinner neck it might be one of the V necked ones. Larry @ Music One is looking up the serial number for me on my original one to see how close it is to this one. Wouldnt it be weird if this new one I just got and my old one were just a few serials apart. I know they look feel sound and act the same. What surprised me on this one is with the ash tray cover on, the bridge pickup doesnt sound as bad as the one I remembered in my original one. The guy I got the guitar from packed it so good it was unreal. It was in a HSC inside a box inside another big boc with tons of packing paper. I wrote in the Ebay feedback this guys packing was so good Houdini coundnt have escaped the package. 8) |

Yes I agree. I'm always hammering Ebay for deals I have seen go bad so felt good when this went so smooth and I got such a great guitar. I placed my bid 1 day before the auction ended and thought I would have been outbid. Was surprised to see I had the high bid.
Guess I dont need a Strat anymore for awhile this is much more fun. I had forgotten how much fun a Tele is shame on me!! |

Mine's got an MN8 serial # too. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Nice fat neck for my big meathook hands.
