Oh decisions Decisions

Help me guys!

Now i have very little time to decide this. But i've finally deicided that i have lived without a telecaster for far too long, though not being the richest of fellows have limited my budget to bascially as low as possible. So I now have 2 options, get a brand spanking new Highway 1 tele (I do like them I do) or I have also found a private seller selling on a 84 made in japan tele (with some slight wear and tear, a few dings and very slight fret wear mainly). Id save $200 going with the 84 tele and would love it because it reminds me of Jeff Buckleys 83 tele, however as its my first tele Id quiet like it to be pristine. So which do I chose!?

Thanks

The Japanese tele for sure, plus you can use the remaining money for new Fralins or case etc

Welcome!

With my heart, I'd vote the MIJ, but I just have to ask, have you played both? If so, does one stand out? Buy that one. If not, well, you need to. You just never know which one is right for you until you do.

WELCOME to the TDPRI. Start with the MIJ tele and use it as a vehicle to discern YOUR tastes in telecasters. Mods are easy and fun. Saving 2 bills is a good start towards a set of custom pups. I'd recommend the CS NOCASTERS for original vintage tone +. Pots, switch and capacitor replacement, before pups is a recommended start with the MIJ if they are the MIJ original small pots and cheesy switch. You may just like the sound you get from this simple inexpensive mod. Good luck, whatever you choose! You'll be building one 'fore long, I'd bet.

+1 on the MIJ telecaster as well.

Just got mine and the quality is awesome. Comparable to some of the American made ones out there. As someone mentioned, the money saved can be used to get a set of new pickups (Lollars, Fralins, Duncans etc.)
