Making a Tele from scratch...

I've built a couple guitars from Warmoth parts and am now intersted in getting a little (a lot) more involved. Where can I find info (books, web, whatever) on making a guitar from scatch?

Just "Fender style" so I'll need: Wood (blank body slabs, I'll probably still just buy a neck for now), plans (templates, blueprints(?), etc.), and any advice y'all might have.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for suppliers of the above mentioned stuff, it would be great. Thanks...

Oh, what tools will I need? Router and sander, drill, clamps and stuff, what else? Thanks....

Lots of books on the subject...

Try Sewmac's book section:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_p..._electric.html

I bought a book by Martin Koch which as a soft back book and CD. Buy it, study it and decide if it's for you. You also get a plan to build a Tele/Strat like guitar.

Also, visit TDPRIer Kevin's page:

http://home.earthlink.net/~tele_project/index.html

And finally, there are a number of courses worldwide. Here's one in the UK I fancy attending:

http://website.lineone.net/~guitarcourse/index.html

Assuming 2004 is better than the crap last 12-months I've just endured, I'm going to attend one of these courses and "build myself a Tele" - done in a mid-west cowboy accent.

Hope this helps.

Peter
