Modified prototype Telecaster

Found on Rebel Relics Site as well:

I want this, I gonna make myself one.

Yeah, this is what I'd build if I had the means, skills and a workshop. The thing I don't like about Leo's prototype (looks-wise) is the control plate, headstock and bridge cover - all of which looks cool and fendery on this "mod".

This looks like the "long lost Third Prototype ....... newly discovered after almost 60 years ........... found in an attic in Fullerton California".

The Second Prototype looked like this.........

I actually like the smaller control plate. Single p-up, single volume control and single tone control. Very basic and functional. Makes more sense to me than the Tele control plate with 3 way switch, but that's just me, what do I know? Cool looking Esquire, in my book.

I like the short '51 tele bass control style plate too. You could use a rear routed body, flip the plate around to use a stock style pg. You'd either have to use long shafted pots or bore through the top to remove wood between plate and pots.
