TDPRI Generosity - I'm humbled....
The postie knocked on my door earlier today and delivered my 2008 "The Art of Guitars" calendar, created by our very own photoweborama. This calendar was supplied absolutely free of charge - all it cost me was the price of the postage from the USA to the UK, and it took just 5 days to arrive.
The front cover - naturally - has a gorgeous full colour photo of a Tele, and there are 11 other superb quality pics inside. Once the year has ended, I was intending to cut out the pics and possibly frame them; however, photoweborama has stated that he won't be producing this calendar ever again, so I shall keep this one intact - and safe and sound - as a lasting tribute to the generosity and kindness of a fellow TDPRI member. I am truly humbled. I've seen some pretty unpleasant stuff thrown here recently, and have been feeling that the TDPRI was not quite the place it used to be. The written word can easily be misinterpreted when one can't stand up and explain it in person, but that doesn't excuse abuse of the forum rules. I would like to personally thank photoweborama for spreading some welcome light along a sometimes darkened road - he is a real credit to the TDPRI. Many of us could learn from his example..... |

I have met the nicest people here.
Haven't had a face to face with anybody (yet) but this group is just the friendliest and most helpful around. Good job everybody!

I am continually blown away by the generosity and friendliness of the people here. Without a doubt, this is hands-down one of the best forums on the 'net. Like blacklinefish, I'd hang out here even if I didn't own a Tele.

I'll say that the one guy I've done a face to face with is Lance... and we hang out every week now. We play together and are teaching each other stuff and having a ball.
He's been VERY generous with desert! (as well as loaning me equipment and knowledge that's already helped me and hurt my wallet) Of all the people I've had interaction with here, I've had very pleasant dealings! I haven't spent as much time here in the general discussion forum as I've been reading up on theory and lessons, amps and pedals and that other Fender guitar... the one with the S in it's name... shhh. Maybe I missed something negative... hope so and not, if'n you get my meaning! Fatman, I'm glad you got hooked up. I always like to hear the good stuff!

Your'e right Fatty, normally at this juncture i would reply with a smart *ss one liner along the lines of "OK, if we are so generous will someone lend me a tenner 'til payday", ---- thing is, i think someone really, actually would !

Your comments about the kindness and generosity on the TDPRI are a good reminder to us all, Fatmanstratman........I have been lurking here for a couple of years but am a relative newbie as far as active participation and posting. I have learned so much and received a lot of help from all the good folks here who are so willing to take the time to share their knowledge and experience. Actually, you were the very first one to provide a considerable amount of detailed information to me about building an Esquire clone on my very first post. It was invaluable, so again, thanks for that.
Indeed, the great people and overall positive atmosphere separate the TDPRI from the other forums. I really appreciate that! Jim

Steve, I had a similar experience with Paul about a year ago. He sent me a calender and some TDPRI guitar picks. It was a gesture of goodwill for something I had done to promote the TDP.
Thank You again Paul Great place and great people. Every once in awhile there is a communication break down. But for the most part I think that is minimal and easily forgotten with a little time. Like any family we have our moments. I had a moment a week or so ago with a member. Personally never had a face to face with him before. I find in most cases a simple and polite PM can take a lot of tension away from a disagreement. That doesn't always work but it's worth a try when you are a member of such a great international community like the TDPRI. |

I haven't been here long myself but I have found this to be a really great place. Sure there are some threads to stay away from. some people seem to enjoy arguing and bickering. To each his own. There's enough other good stuff here to keep me occupied.
I enjoy the exchange of info and the seemingly endless vault of knowledge here. It's like sitting down with hundreds of good friends to talk guitars. Everybody has opinions and it's nice to see them openly expressed without somebody firing back a post "You're an idiot!" This place is great and we can keep it that way. |

Just take a look at some of the other Forums out there; You'll be quick to see this IS THE BEST fORUM OUT THERE!
Yeah, there have been a few moments that things went awry, but you can't beat this place for friendly, generous people who GENUINELY enjoy music and thier gear. Just look at all the pro players, builders and gear "nuts" who hang out here; where you gonna find all that in one place? And about Teles? Wooo-Hooo! |

the generosity of TDPRI members has kept my boat afloat during stormy times -- in fact, i've still got two 512MB sticks of PC2100 RAM given me by a TDPRIer, but they wouldn't work on my Mac. still seeking a good home for 'em -- if interested, PM me.

I have a Boss TU-2 pedal given to me by a fellow TDPRIer. I mentioned that it was the one thing on my Christmas list that I didn't get...he had an extra and sent it free of charge, even paid the postage. I think about that act of generosity every time I play...truly a wonderful gift that gets used daily.
Thanks to Reno and all the TDPRIers. |

I would have to say - this is a kinder place. I continue to learn from each of you (although I'd never take a shot at building). I have been turned on to some great playing and lessons, by some of the coolest open-minded, thoughtful people.
Misinterpretation aside, I think we have something very special here. Don't let anyone / anything get in the way of that. Thank you everyone!

This is really the only forum I am an actual member of and I am very impressed with the nice people here. I have looked at other forums for things such as car repairs and so on. I can tell you that some of the Lincoln and Mustang forums are not so polite. This is a great thread and I too was impressed with the calendar offer. It's also cool to see people donating parts to projects for people too. I had a neck plate screw problem the other day so I posted looking for advice. Instead, I get a PM and well known and kind member here asked for my address and told me he'd send me the screws I needed. Too kind, I will certainly try to keep the cycle going!

I know photoweborama, (Mark), personally and have had the pleasure of attending some jams with him out in California. He's a straight up, no nonsense kinda guy that always takes the high road. It's a priviledge knowing him and many of the other fine folks I've met and jammed with across the guitar forum universe!
