What's your stage set up?

Guitars:
1. My striped Squier Tele
2. My TeleSg
3. My Cort Jim Triggs signature thinline

Effects:
1. Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah (sound much better than the crybabies)
2. Ibanez Metal charger
3. Boss turbo overdrive
4. Boss Chorus esemble
5. Boss Digital delay

Amp:
Yamaha VS 3000 solid state tube emulated 50 watt combo (designed by Soldano) with single 12 inch eminence speaker.

This is what I use onstage with The Worst and I'm sastisfied with the tones I get. Evert Jan, our singer rithem guitarist has a Gibson SG and a Marshall valvestate, which in theory should sound great but he screws up his sound by using a Zoom multy effects unit, my much cheaper set up outdoes his rig.

Current rig is my MIM Tele Special straight into a Marshall JCM-800. Simple, effective, no-nonsense.

Actually, I'm not playing guitar for anyone right now, so my currect stage setup with the current project "The Paper Cuts," actually consists of a $100 Ibanez bass plugged into whatever I can beg, borrow, or steal.

Flamecaster
Am.Deluxe 3-pup Tux-Both with vintage noiseless pup's
'53 Gibson acoustic(yes,I take it on the road)
Marshall JCM 800 (1-12)
Marshall JCM 900 (dual reverb)(2-12)
Boss tuner
Boss compressor/sustainer(the best thing I EVER bought)
Ampeg 4-12
All speakers are celestion vintage 30's
The two Marshalls are running on-board spk's,plus running the 4-12 cab in stereo,2-2
The 800 is clean mostly, just a little break-up for thickness and bite.
The 900 is either completely distorted for rock/or any solo's,or TOTALLY clean for country rythem stuff.both run simultaniously all the time.
It's a HUGE tone,fat and sassy.
Twang or smooth classic warm distortion.

Les Paul or Tele
TU-2 tuner
'69 fuzz (for 2 songs)
crowther hot cake (for crunchier rhythms)
Keeley Rat (for leads)
Marshall JMP MV 50watter -> Marshall silver Jub 4x12 slant (v-30s)

i just added the fuzz and hot cake in the chain in the last few weeks. had them lying around and not knowing how to incorporate them with this rig. but now I think I got it figured out nicely.

I set the Amp up for a classic medium AC/DC crunch. not too gainy. preamp on about 6. pick lightly or roll the vol down and its get a nice clean tone. engage the Hot Cake, and it pushes the amp very nicely into a thick rock modern crunch.

the LP and the Tele are interchangeable live. I love them both. depends on my moods which one will be the #1 that night. lately it's been the LP, but The Tele is still my favorite guitar and will always be.

two ways to go...

I'm the bass player in my present band, with this rig:

Tokai '57 P-bass modified with a glorious Voodoo pickup and a sweet Warmoth Tele Bass neck, no effects, into a Genz Benz ML-200 combo with a tweeter and a 12" speaker (upgraded to an Eminence Kappa 400-watter), with a line out to the P.A. system. I'm in the process of buying a Traynor Bassmaster 50-watt head and 2x12 cab (Celestion G12H-80s) that'll probably replace the GB (I really like tubes!) and I'll use a direct box to send a signal to the P.A.

When I DO play a gig as a guitarist, it's this:

1966 Fender Telecaster (Fiesta Red, rosewood board) with a Van Zandt flatpole bridge pickup and a G&L ASAT MFD (the soapbar-sized one) in the neck, no effects, into a mid-70s Traynor YGM-3 Guitarmate (2xEL-84 into a Celestion G12H-80). The afforementioned Bassmaster will likely get some work too, as it's like a Plexi in Canadian camoflage! I also just bought a DeArmond M-75T, kinda Les Paul meets Gretsch, that'll be working its way in...

Cheers, Tim

Boss Metal Zone pedal

About all I do is play the intro to 'Crazy Train' over and over.

No...seriously.

HA!!

Got ya!

For 40 Miles of Bad Road, my honky tonk band, it's:

Cheapo Harmony acoustic, or
50s Classic Tele
Danelectro compressor
Ibanez digital delay
Stage tuner
Peavey Classic 30 (with a Celestion V30 in it) or Fender Blues Jr.

For Gravy Boat, my roots/Southern rock band, it's:

50s Classic or MIM Standard hotrodded with 1 EMG active single coil and no neck pup
Danelectro compressor
Ibanez Super Tube
delay
tuner
amp

    Simple stuff

60's Strat or 68 Tele , Dunlop 1.4MM or 2MM Tortex picks, GHS 10's on the strat, Thomastic Infield roundwound 12's on the Tele, Monster 10ft. cable and a Tweed 4x10 Bassman.....I dont like to take alot of stuff to the gig because I also lug my PA to every gig too, so the less I have to worry about the better...I love the clean punch of a tweed amp and I dont use any verb anymore live, I just plug in and go and what I like about it is that alot of the fast picking stuff just jumps out of the amp and you can hear every note really well without the verb on it..I never thought I could play guitar or even sing without a bunch of verb on everything however I now love the natural sound of just a tweed amp and the PA dry with no effects on the vocals..it simplifies alot of stuff and you get a nice clear sound and mix too... My PA is a Carvin Stage Mate or I use two 400 Watt Mackie powered speakers, I use a Shure SM57A Beta Mic and thats it.

    Pretty simple

    Fretted guitar

    CIJ Tele-->A/B-->Fender pedal tuner-->Fulldrive2-->Hullett Deluxe

    Slide Guitar
    CIJ Strat-->A/B--Fender pedal tuner-->Fulltone Fat Boost-->Fulldrive2-->Hullett Deluxe.

For outdoor gigs, replace the Deluxe with a RI Bassman with Hullett-built 5F6A circuit. Deluxe is usually there as a backup.

I play my MIM 50īs classic tele. Either into a compressor and a volume pedal, into my sf twin, miked up. or through a V-amp pro/active monitor/PA.
The twin is the best, but the v-amp is handy, and sound decent enough, clean. The sound through the PA is just as good with the v.amp. It takes a while to get used to hearing the guitar from the monitor only.

    live rig

I've got a ton of guitars but in the last band I was in I cycled between these the most: Paisley Tele RI, Gibson Blueshawk, and PRS Santana III.

More recently I've been playing with some new folks and I've been using my mahogany/rosewood Strat as well.

From there it's into a Boss tuner pedal, Morley Bad Horsie II, Fulltone Ultimate Octave, Radial ToneBone Classic, Analogman modded TS9DX, Boss CE20 chorus, Digitech Digidelay pedal.

The amp is either my Dr. Z KT45 w/Line 6 2x12 cab or a Fender Blues Junior.

    My fiddy cent worth.

not if your music REALLY needs them..

I would never go on stage without my pedalboard.People (and bandmates) expect to hear the sound of my bands cd's (which are based on effects...)
