Wonder Where This Baby Went

This was my 53 stock Telecaster that I played in 1974. It was stolen in 1975 in Chicago while on tour with the Bellamy Brothers. It was a great ax. I purchased it from Norman's rare Guitars for $500.00. The only thing different item on it was the signature on the horn of the guitars. "TO JOHN, STAY WITH IT..BB KING".

I wonder where it is today?

Man, that's a shame. Have you ever done a search online (google, etc) to see if anything particular to yours (horn text, serial #, neck date, etc) turned up a hit?

Hey John! Good to see you back here!

I'll keep my eyes open, as I'm in Chicago. Are you still using that neck we did for you?

Are you kidding me? I wouldn't play without it!!! In fact, I have a picof it in my new CD "JOHN BELAND- THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS YEARS."
Its a great neck..very close to the one I had for many years on my old Tele.
Thanks for the great job you guys did!
Cheers buddy

I know what you mean John. I had a 71 black body, black headstock, rosewood neck stolen in 81. I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it.

Hey John, do you still have that 50's with the CW bender?

You mean this one?
No Gary,
Lost it ina bad divorce.
It wound up in the hands of Gunner Nelson, of all people, who offered to sell it back to me......... for $25,00.00.

The Tele I now have with the All Parts fat neck and Bill Bores BBender is the best I've ever played. So, I'm fine.
Cheers

An FBI friend of my uncle's ( who was the fire chief of Chicago inthe 70's) gave me the same answer, the day after the theft.'

Truer words never spoken (or typed)...probably a song in there, too.

I was checking out the website, pretty damn impressive. Best of luck with the rest of your career.
By the way, is there anything worse than a damn thief?

We're not allowed to talk about those who are worse, forum rules.

Hi John,

Not to sidetrack this thread, but I noticed you're in Brenham. I'm hosting a TDPRI jam session on Sat May 31 in Willow Springs (half way between Industry and Fayetteville), which is only about 20 minutes away from Brenham.

It would be great if you could come by and jam a bit.

More info is Here

Cheers,
Doug

You know, I would think that the way people have been keeping track of vintage SN's and simple detaild of Tele's for the last decade, that we may be able to track her down somehow. Maybe just parts, but maybe some big parts.

Don't lose this thread!
Nacho... Have you heard anything?
I'm just hollerin' to anyone with lots of knowlwdge.

Best of luck, you need to get her back!

Buddy Whittington had a Les Paul Jr. stolen years ago...
then found it many years later, & was able to get it back...
so...stranger things have happened..
