Help me making a decision...

So I have a deal on hold.
A guy is selling a 2-3 months old Highway one upgraded version in honey blonde.
The guitar sells new here about the 700€ ($1,080) price. the guy claims he paid 800€ ($1,240) (it's possibly true cause little stores tend to have higher prices) and he's selling it for 400€ ($620). The only thing he has done to the guitar was a "little" sanding on the body for a wear-like look. For that he says he sells for so much low price.

Since I have to make 120 miles to see the guitar (and another 120 back) I need you opinion.
Is the guitar worth that? I already have a tele Classic '50 but I'd love to get one more tele since I travel all the weekends for out of town I would love to have a tele with me in may weekend home.
I've read that Boris said the PU's were bad but I can get a set of Keystones and have a great set of PU's for a bargain.

What other things I'll have to consider? Once I played a Highway one (not the updated version) and the neck was a lot like my '90 standard strat neck wich is a little thinner than my tele neck. How are the new ones?

Only you can make a decision about the relicing job ... but the neck on the new Highway 1 feels much thinner than the Classic 50s, plus it has flatter fretboard and huge frets. Totally different playing intruments, if that's a concern for you.

I have it as a more actual version of the old tele. Am I right?

I know your not in the USA but you can easily get a HWY1 Tele here for $500 or a 50's Classic for $400 used.

Yeah, I know Mark.
But this is almost 200€ less than a new one and it's a great price for a MIA guitar.
What you guys say, a good deal or pass and go for the Squier Custom II with P-90's cause P-90's is all I'm GASing for right now?

I can only give you my opinion, but I am not a big fan of the H1. I find the finish slippery. If I were looking for a guitar in that price range, I'd find a Baja. Of course, I'm not a fan of P90's either.

Don't get hung up on the fact that it is MIA.

I think you'll love the Highway 1 and if somebody offered me $620 for mine I'd tell them to take a hike. The upgraded version is worth it and you'll love the neck. It is a lot thinner than the '50's classic and the frets are big and fat to it is easy to dig in.
The pups give some good variety of tones and the bridge pickup is really hot and gritty. The neck pup is warm but kind of muddy.

Just my opinion here. And I have a '50's classic with Don Mare 2324's and a four way switch but the Highway 1 (with Muy Grandes is my #1 player).

The neck diameter on the "upgrade" Highway One is the same as the earlier ones, at least my 3 ( one old, two new ) are.

Honestly, the increase in the fret size from Am Se to original Highway One is bigger than the jump from original Highway One to upgrade Highway One. However, the upgrade fret size is just a "bridge too far". The original Highway One frets annoy me a little, but the upgrade ones just really set me off.

I wanna make a comment. When I pick up a Highway One crazy cheap, I treat it like a kit or project, but generally I recommend you shop for and buy only guitars that are basically right in the form you'll be test playing them in. With not so good pickups and monster huge frets, I really don't know how you tell playing it for ten minutes IF it will be right once you change a bunch of things. (Although, with a nice USACG neck and Keystones, you can put just about anything right.)

For that reason, I'd encourage you to keep looking and save your money.

The way I understand it in Portugal, Teles are rare but Tele players/buyers are rare, too. So easy to get stuck with something no one else wants. This guy is taking a supposed 50 percent hit selling this very new guitar. Obviously it did not meet his expectations?

I think if you had to drive 240 miles that isnt a good deal.

yes. it's the same guitar... I had explained that it was a guitar I was intended to buy.
