GE Tele "Recalled?"
A poster on another forum says George wanted something fixed on the Smith model Telecasters and so they are being shipped back to Fender for a retro-fit. I have no other details. Anyone hear about this? |

No, not a thing and I wouldnt send mine back anyway. It is the best guitar of any kind I have ever played or owned. Play like butter is the best way I can descibe it. Mine weighs just 6.4 LBS as an added bonus.
It has made me want to liquidate my entire collection as I haven't touched anoher guitar since acquiring the Smith. I got real lucky to stumble upon this guitar. Wasn't even looking for it when it presented itself. But I knew almost immediately and felt this real sense of urgency when I found it. I'm so glad I listened to my gut on this one which wasn't very hard to do. I feel like buying another one just to hang on to in fear that it will be discontinued sooner, rather than later. |

hhahahah this is about the most amusing thing Ive ever heard.
There has never been a guitar recalled and sent back to the factory for anything. If an artist doesnt like the way something turned out they just make the newest models different. If Fender did recall a guitar it wouldnt be sent back to the factory anyway the dealers who sold them would take care of anything that was wrong. It would also be a nightmare @ the factory getting thousands of guitars shipped to them daily and trying to keep track of serial numbers so the same guitar you bought would be the same one you got back. So like anything else just use good common sense Fender isnt recalling any guitars to be sent back to the factory ever its just never gonna happen.

My Robot is my #1.
People just dont understand how they work. Alot of people who dont know how they work dont realize the tuners have 2 positions they work in manual tuning and robot tuning. When you pull out on the tuner you hear a click and it works like any other guitar. When the tuners are pressed in the motorized tuning works. All it takes is one of the tuners to be pulled out and if the user doesnt know this it wont tune motorized.

I don't care if Fender asked me to send it back or not, I wouldnt do it in a million years. This baby even goes fishin with me and I've never been so in love with a guitar before. Even sleeps next to my bed at night.
I just can't believe ho she plays, sure she's got great tone plugged and unplugged, but it's the neck. This is one of the few (actually, the only) Telecaster I ve ever bought off the shelf without even needing a set-up. Everything is perfect, action height, string tension is all even better than the Suhr I had. I feel like I stole this guitar - okay I will shut-up now, but it's great. I have never seen another one at another dealer before, or since and this was the only one these guys had. Thankfully, the guitar guy at that shop is a major Fender Tele nut (and strat). He always has a couple gems in both types, though he was a bit thin on high quality Tele's last time I was there. |

1979 Anniversary guitars. The white finish flaked off so fast that Fender offered free refins. That's why white 1979 Anniversary's are worth more and more rare than silvers. Originally they were all white. Some say Fender "recalled them", others say Fender "strongly encouraged their return"...either way, it was a recall. Quote:

I'm sure if you tried to source this it wouldn't come from Fender but from "a dude I know and trust that works for a music store and has connections". IF there were a recall I doubt it would be at the whim of the signature artist. Who knows maybe these catch fire if you play too long above the 12th fret or something...

Somebody probably read or heard how fussy Smith was about the finish/paint.
And, how that became a bit of a sticking point betweeen he and Fender, but that GE got his way. You know how the internet is, that soon becomes one guy telling another that Smith and Fender almost came to blows, then another says Fender is having QC issues and Smith is threatening to sue and ya da ya da ya da. Or maybe someone is trying to start a rumour right now, right here and we caught it, who knows... But even if there was a recall I'd never put this one in the mail for any reason. I have waited a long, long time for this guitar. |

If its true, you better send all your GE smiths back. You don't want them to explode when you get to close to the drummer. Or wait, if your facing the drummer....hmmmm........I'll have to think about this.

Sounds like that could be if they weren't paying attention.

The shortened bridgeplate leaves no place for static electricity to discharge from the players hand. The dangerously high levels of static can lead to a fatal discharge under the right circumstances.
Please send your GE Smith's to me and I will perform thorough ground leakage testing on them. Of course I can only return the ones which pass the leakage test, the others will taken care of appropriately. - Jay

He wanted Black added. I heard they were putting Black in the line (not on the website).
Maybe he is having them all recalled and painted Black. Yeah, that's it...they are all going to be painted BLACK!
