Believe it or not, but that is a '59 Esquire
It was originally "cream" colored (blonde?), and in addition to having it refinished in black, he added different pickups at different times, even a Strat pickup in the middle position like the Nashville (plus a 5-way switch). |

we're not worthy...
The first I heard of Rory Gallagher was on a "Guitar Player" compilation record, mid 70's sometime. And the photo was him playing said Esquire. In a later GP feature (80's???) RG talks about his guitars. I think most of his slide work was on the Esquire.
I saw him in 81 and 91 here in Melbourne, 81 was the "Photofinish" album tour. I don't recall any other guitars apart from the Strat and Esquire. 91 tour I saw he had added a 335 (possibly... all Gibson semis look kinda alike to me!!!)
