The Vault Creaks Open and 2 Leak Out!
This is a side by side comparison of my Masterbuilt Nocaster and my brand new Hahn. The Hahn is ridiculously good, and Chihoe Hahn is without a doubt one of the nicest builders I've ever had the good fortune to work with. If you aren't aware of this man's works you owe it to yourself to check him out. Right up there with DeTemple or anybody else, he is a most intuitive, sensitive luthier. The Nocaster has a slim oval '60's profile, Broadcaster/Twisted Tele combo, lefty pots, cap/resistor across the volume pot so the tone doesn't change when you turn down, 4-way switch for series/parallel sounds, 9.5 radius and vintage frets.
The Hahn has all the same wiring and neck profile, with Lollars, Callaham tailpiece and bridge saddles with the bridge plate cut away on the treble side, and the touch of a true master of the Telecaster. Oh, and of course the by now obligatory toe shot! Enjoy! ![]() ![]()

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, do you get the feeling there might be some more nice shots from 'the vault' ??
We see a lot of bridge plates with the cutaway now, i know Danny Gatton did it but has anyone here ever actually found it gets in the way ?, did you specify that Elliot or do they just come that way ? Now take the torch and go back to that vault and let's see more of the herd.

Some may not be aware, but a much loved TDPRI'er was blatantly ripped off by a certain builder/tech dba/"Vintique", an Mr. Hahn stepped up an' hit it waaay outta the park makin' things right with a BEAUTIFUL Tele for Danny....so for that reason alone Hahn's got a good reputation with us, an' it's good to see yet another example of his work... Thanx again Elliot, keep 'em comin' Bro' ! |

Nice score Elliot! Chihoe is indeed a great guy and he pays close attention to detail in his builds. I was drooling all over them at NAMM last February.
I believe he told me he will be at NAMM in Nashvegas this June. I will have to go seek him out and have another gander at them lovely guitars of his. Any chance you will be at the June NAMM show? |

A trip to the bench grinder fixed it right up. And yes I did remove it from the guitar first. |

sweet tele's Elliot!!!!! Elliot is a great and gracious person as well. I pestered him with endless questions many moons ago as we had dinner at Live Aid in the hospitality tent. Across from Elliot and I were Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith--a surreal experience!!! It was friggin hot that day too!!

Thank you , Elliot for a very tasty post.
I'm mulling over the Hahn headstock; I have been 'learned' not to like it, but I do like it anyway. I wonder if seeing a custom guitar builder's signature headstock in left handed form first, and getting acclimated to it isn't the wise choice, before flipping the image over and "Taking Leo on Head to Head" as it were. Yeah, I've been hoping to see more Chihoe Hahn guitars after his wonderful generosity following what Fatocaster went through. Perhaps I'll check his product out at one of the guitar shows he attends. Bubbanov Man, those NAMM 2008 featured players on the Hahn Website are just terrible! Disgusting!
